Named using the
Imperial Era word for "clouded", the Nublar Jungle lays covered in fog and steam created by the combination of warm geothermal vents and thick oceanside air. The rich volcanic soil supports enormous trees, reaching high into the sky, and the fertile growth underneath the canopy is teeming with life - the most prominent of which are the
Dinosaurs which dominate the surface of the jungle.
Geography
Nestled between the Little Brothers volcanic ridge and the eastern sea, the Nublar Jungle contains the richest biosphere in the entirety of Lasair. Hidden away in the northeast corner of the continent, the jungle was considered a curiosity by the Empire - seen as a potential resource but not worth the difficulty of exploiting when there was the rest of the continent available.
The jungle may seem out of place, given its proximity to the tundra of the far north, but the region is kept warm by many geothermic vents related to the Little Brothers and the rest of the
Firelands. Unlike the rest of the Firelands, thanks to the ocean, the jungle is moist and humid. This allows for the enormous growth of plants, especially the towering trees that fill most of the area.
Populations
Nearer the coast, the land becomes too soft to support trees of any real height, and the jungle gives way to marshland. The swampy coast plays host to several villages of
Lizardfolk, who mostly subsist on fishing while occasionally hunting solitary
Dinosaurs that venture into the swampland. Very rarely, the lizardfolk will send a hunting party into the jungle to hunt a particularly large specimen when supplies are needed.
One small trading village, populated by a handful of lizardfolk and humans, serves mostly to provide supplies to explorers. Occasional adventuring parties will venture into the jungle after a long trek around
The Desolation, thanks to rumors of Imperial (or even more ancient) ruins.
Wildlife
The jungle is notable for the presence of several
Dinosaur species, enormous reptiles towering high into the air. Herds of plant-eaters make their way slowly around the forest, occasionally hunted by titanic solitary predators or packs of smaller, more cunning hunters.
