False Dragon

More closely related to Wyverns than Dragons, these small reptiles seem to have a similar body plan to the true great wyrms, but don't act the same way. They don't have a breath weapon, they can't speak, and they don't care for treasure.

Basic Information

Anatomy

False dragons have a very similar anatomy to true Dragons, with six limbs. Four of which hold its body upright and two are developed into leathery bat-like wings. However, the shape of the body is more serpentine and a javelin-like spike is on the end of the tail, like with Wyverns.

Ecology and Habitats

False dragons live in urban environments and within homes or taverns.

Dietary Needs and Habits

False dragons are carnivores. They love to eat rats, mice, spiders, and other household pests.

Additional Information

Domestication

A false dragon is often respected as a member of a household or a roommate. They detest being considered a "pet". Being called that will make one leave as quickly as possible.

Average Intelligence

These reptiles are intelligent enough to understand Common, Goblin, Dwarvish, Elvish, and Draconic. Not enough to speak, however. They even use their intelligence to learn about the prey they are stalking before finding the right time to strike. They love to explore and learn about new places to plan an ambush.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

They are dependent on the civilized races they live alongside. They will do everything to make themselves seem endearing enough to be allowed to stay longer.
