Possession

Possession is an ability mostly used by Spirits and Demons.   Any living creature can be possessed unless the possession ability of a specific creature says otherwise.
The creature must succeed on a DC 10 + charisma modifier, Charisma saving throw or be possessed by the entity; the entity then disappears, and the target is Incapacitated and loses control of its body. The entity now controls the body but doesn't deprive the target of awareness. A player possessed by the entity must succeed on a daily CHA saving throw starting with a base DC. Upon a failure the entity controls the character until the end of the next long rest. After a failed save the DC for the save increases by 1 each time stopping once the save has a DC of 20. Saving throws should also be made in a place that sparks an emotional memory about the place the initial possession took place (at the discretion of the DM).
The entity can't be targeted by any Attack, spell, or other Effect, except ones that would affect it directly instead of affecting the host.
It retains its Alignment, Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma, and skills related to those stats. It also retains its weaknesses, resistances and immunities not dependent on the physical body. Like immunity to being Charmed or Frightened. It otherwise uses the possessed target's Statistics and gain access to the target's knowledge and Class Features, but not Proficiencies (unless stated otherwise).
If a Character who is possessed is reduced to zero hit points, they regain hit points equal to 1d6. If the character was under the entitity's control when this happened, then the players character resumes control of the body. If the entity is suppressed at the time of reaching zero hit points, then the entity will take control of the unconscious character until the end of the next long rest. This can only occur once per long rest.
Under the entity’s control the aims and goals of the entity are what the player should work towards. What ever they might be, starting a new cult, world domination or unleashing a world ending evil on the world.
The possession lasts until the possessed creature dies, the entity dies, or the entity decides to leave or is forced to leave. If the entity still possesses the creature when it dies it dies along with it. It can still leave while death saving throws are being made. When the possession ends, the entity reappears in an unoccupied space within 15 ft. of the body.
