Haverstock
Situated where the Klipsten River gives way to Ögaavsten Falls, Haverstock is dedicated to the growth, production and distribution of Ash Wheat flour. It is the social and economic hub of the Verdant Grasmark.
Government
Haverstock has an elected mayor and an appointed Town Council. The mayor appoints any vacancies in the Town Council. They oversee grievances by the citizens and have final say over disputes on the Town Council.
The Town Council guides community resources where they will best serve the overall growth and well-being of the town. They oversee budgeting, regulation, and tax collection. Appointments are for life or retirement, whichever comes first.
There are five seats on the Town Council, with each representing a major interest in Haverstock - Agriculture, Merchants, Town Defense, and two for General Citizenry. While there is no rule requiring it, there has never been a year without representation by at least one of the Founding Families represented on the Council.
(However, after a particularly disastrous run by Mayor [McCheese] and his doofy family that saw the town coffers nearly run dry, Mayors are no longer allowed to appoint Council members with three-or-less degrees of familial separation.)
While the appointment of Town Council members is up to the mayor, the citizens do have some say in its vacancies. When the mayoral election is held the first Tuesday of Spring every year, each citizen also casts a yay-or-nay vote of confidence for each Council Member. If 60% of the vote for any Council Member is nay, they have until Friday to resign lest their resignation be tendered for them.
Industry & Trade
Haverstock was founded when three neighboring farmers hatched a plan to build a grain mill, and it has been milling ever sense. Using the power of the Klipsten River and Ögaavsten Falls, Haverstock's grain milling capacity has increased ten-fold, spreading Ash Wheat flour throughout Anscyor. Industrious citizens have expanded into adjacent industries to support this.
- Aurox, sheep, and other livestock are essential to the growth and packaging of Ash Wheat flour.
- Blacksmiths and carpenters work in tandem to create and repair wagons for transporting crops to and from the mills.
- Taverns and Cottage Houses give rest and comfort to farmers as their crops are processed.
- Kinkett's Wholesale and Kinkett's General Store import farming and domestic supply for the entire region.
Architecture
Declan Kinkett's influence can be seen throughout many of the civic and industrial buildings throughout Haverstock.
Geography
Ögaavsten Falls spills over a sheer, 40-foot rock face that also divides the town in two.
North Haverstock, at the top of the Falls, saw the town's first growth. Fryst's Mill and Granary was erected there and the burgeoning town sprang up around it - a tavern, general store, bar, bakery...
