La Compagnie

La Compagnie (also known as La Compagnie de la Baie d'Hudson) is a galaxy-spanning economical giant, supervising thousands upon thousands of local commercial interests, serving as intermediairies or contact for others and sporting a gigantic para-military formation known as the Foreign Armies.   La Compagnie is a shadow superpower in the Imperium of Man, its many associated chartist captains, military formations, commercial interests, mechanicum charters, bounty hunters licenses and political influence make it somewhat a threatening organization to any servant of the Imperium that sees such tentacular power as a relatively potent cauldron for heresy and insurrection.   However, La Compagnie has proved time and time again to be very devoted to the survival of the Imperium of Man, more often than not lending its military assets to local governors, Imperial Adeptas and supporting private investigations in collaboration with the Adeptus Arbites or even the Inquisition.   At this size, it is highly possible that the ties of La Compagnie goes both ways, with imperial agents and Inquisitors infiltrating and controlling its shadowy operations, while their far reaching hand is also controlling and influencing Administratum or other imperial adeptas to maintain their posting.

Structure

La Compagnie is propriety of the mysterious power couple known as the Count and his Lady (often named the Lord and Lady). They are surrounded by the Lordship's Court, which are his supreme political, financial and military representants, at the head of which can be found the Supreme Chair-Man of La Compagnie.   This organisation oversee the actions of the Boad of Directors, which is composed of the 10 directors of La Compagnie.   The day-to-day administration and command of La Compagnie is separated in each segmentums, which are further separated between two regional Directors. They then overview their local and private forces, those of their vassals, commercial investments, military assets, political influences and their many domains throughout the Imperium.

Culture

La Compagnie sees its Count and his Lady as divine envoys from the God-Emperor and are spiritual leaders as much as major shareholders.    While most organisations members of La Compagnie are quite independant, sending stream of money to the consortium overseeing them or part of them, some organisations closer to their directors and many influential members of its client trade cartels and private forces are also members of secret spiritual lodges where they share the deepest agenda of the organisation and its spiritual structure.   A culture of secrecy in La Compagnie is the basis of all their actions. While many organisations are officially seen as parts of La Compagnie like its Foreign Armies, most of the consortium is totally secret. Many local commerces, trade cartels, noble houses, private military contractors or bounty hunters and contract killers are serving unknown benefactors, partially or totally bought by some shareholders themselves having little to no connexions, or simply majors financial or influential debts to individuals even further in the Imperial Hierarchy.   This also means that La Compagnie can easily shed its skin or throw under a train elements that would become detrimental to their objectives.    The same is true for the inner secret society at its heart that is very certaintly the real source of power of its organisation. Its members, be they lesser citizens taking arms to defend their cause or influential planetary governors, won't accept lack of loyalty from lesser assets and agencies and will generally end any rebellion, contracts breaking, before the idea can even get a hold of the organization.

Public Agenda

La Compagnie is officially vying for non-adeptas commercial and military ties to strengthen the Imperium without the constant use of its main assets. They are strong proponent of a strong Imperium of Mankind while defending more autonomy for its constituents.

Assets

La Compagnie possess billions of mercenaries divisions, para-military fleets, vassal Rogue Trader charters, Mechanicum pact, warp-lane charters and local commercial and governmental interests. As such, they are a sub-power to most parts of the Imperium.    While this power seems gigantic, it is spread thin however, similar to an Imperium inside the Imperium.

History

La Compagnie was allegedly created during the first major territorial expansions during the Dark Age of Technology. However, many doubt the truth of this history since rare are those family and organisations that have Survived Old Night, the following Great Crusade and Horus Heresy or the greatest challenges of the Great Rift.   However, always, the Foreign Armies of La Compagnie were seen at the forefront of the Imperial war efforts and their economical investments straigthening dying worlds.
