Evening Isles
The Evening Isles are an array of islands that seperate the Western and Silver Sea. They are comprised of three large and two much smaller islands with a landscape of mostly rolling hills, flat land and sandy dunes. Like most of the landscapes around the Silver Sea, the Evening Isles are known for their beauty and clear air.
History
Because of their strategically crucial position, the Evening Isles have always been a highly contested area. Whoever controls the Evening Isles also controls traffic and trade across the Silver Sea, and therefore holds tremendous power over any other littoral state. Especially after the disbandment of the acadean Empire and before the consolidation of the many lordships around the Silver Sea into the two kingdoms Aguilear and Eleonis, many a quarrel took place about the dominion over the Evening Isles.
After the founding of the kingdom of Eleonis in 612 CE, the kingdom quickly gained dominion, and only after the subsequent union of the lordships of Aguilear in 647 CE, the Aguileans were able to contest this. This eventually led to one of the most important and most devastating sea battle in the history of both kingdoms, a battle won by the eleonian fleet. Smaller conflicts took place after that, until an agreement was finally made. The contract states that the two large northern islands were to belong to Eleonis and the one big and two small southern islands would henceforth be aguilean. This agreement is in effect to date.

Due to their geographic location, the Evening Isles are also frequented by sailors and merchants. Since every ship in or out of the Silver Sea has to pass by them, most take the opportunity to take a leave to shore, especially on the way in. Therefore, the Evening Isles are also known as the Gates to the Silver Sea.
