Belak Defeated, the Dragonpriest’s Revenge, and Korg is slain (The Sunless Citadel FINALE)

Played on June 7, 2019     26 Flamerule, The Year of Twelve Warnings (1494 DR) The Sunless Citadel, Neverwinter Wood     After talking to Grenl about descending into the Twilight Grove below, the group readied themselves to find and face Belak and rescue Sharwyn Hucrele and Sir Braford.   In the lower area known as The Grove, the party ran into Dundolyn, a halfling adventurer who told the party about being hired by the previous adventures who entered the Sunless Citadel a month before. Accompanied by Sharwyn Hucrele and Sir Braford, after losing Sharwyn’s brother and the ranger, Dundolyn managed to escape after Sharwyn and Sir Braford were charmed by Belak and transformed by the Gulthias tree. Dundolyn said he survived on anything he could find to eat and drink in the dungeon for over a month.   The group continued on, led by Dundolyn to where the grove was located. There, they met Sharwyn, Sir Braford, Belak, and what they would later learn were twig blights.     The encounter with Belak ended with Belak being decapitated. Sharwyn quickly died after Ahroheim struck her with a large tome he found and sent hurtling towards her with a spell. Sir Braford kept fighting off the group after Belak ran off back to the Gulthias Tree.   After defeating Belak, the party attacked and destroyed the Gulthias tree while it was being defended by twig blights, offshoots from the Gulthias tree.   On the way back to the surface, the party ran into the Dragonpriest who had been transformed into a hideous and powerful troll. When the group first encountered the troll, it killed one of the party members. The others managed to escape. This time, the party only managed to escape after the troll had nearly killed them all and had taken the dying paladin Korg Sunfinder as a meal.   Rather than risk fighting the troll, the party fled back to Oakhurst.   Back in Oakhurst, the party returned the remains of Sharwyn to her family. The group also learned that Belak persuaded the goblins of the citadel to sell the red apple every summer in Oakhurst. The villagers planted the fruit’s seeds in the hopes of growing it for themselves. However, the seeds sprouted Twig Blights bent on murdering anyone they encountered as they wandered off in all directions away from Oakhurst.       Dramatis Personae   Ahroheim   Dundolyn (Male Halfling Rogue)   Edmont Patch (Male Human Rogue)   Korg Sunfinder (Male Goliath Paladin of the Sun/Pelor)   Skyler Kiltrin (Male Dragonborn Cleric of Bahamut)   Ziri Basha (Female Half-elf Druid)
