Draecyris Hearthfang and the Seven Houses

^ An artist's rendition of the original fortress that would become Khelzarund, surrounded by dragons.   Slayer Princeps (or First Slayer) of the First Age, Draecyris Hearthfang was the first king, and a principal founder, of Kheldor.   Draecyris was born the only son to a widowed mother, his father killed by a dragon months before his birth. As young as 14 years old, with his father's sword, Draecyris slew his father's killer. Afterwards, he put its corpse on a horse-drawn cart and set out on a journey, travelling from tribe to tribe and showing his soon-to-be countrymen that these creatures could be killed, that they could be beaten.   At 16 years old he had succeeded in uniting the 7 tribes of old under a single banner He, together with these 7 chieftains and their armies, pushed back the Dragontide of old and began to build a walled city from their fortress of Khelzarund. They would name our nation Kheldor, in honor of Durhel, God of Inspiration and Creativity.   Alongside the family of Draecyris, these 7 tribes would become the noble houses of Kheldor we know today, their chieftains vassals of the King.
