The designated religion related to the Mother God

Structure

There are two kinds of religious representatives: Immams and Dinis. Immams are similar to priests. They have a temple and a community under their name, and it is their goal to accompagny their religion. Dinis could be considered religious councelors. They are part of the cities and country's organization, they take part in councils and votes.

Assets

There are many temples across the country and they are mostly very humble, but for exemple the Easter temple of the Madina Almina and the Royal Temple of Al'Soukarh are ones of the most beautifull pieces of architecture Naharates have build.

History

There is no founding, no ending. It seems that even when the Naharates lived in the desert, the Lioness was still mothering them.

Mythology & Lore

The Mother God, or Lioness is said to have descended on the last day of the week to bring her children to life.

While most religious texts are lacking in detail, it seems like the world took a week to create. There is mentions of old, anciant gods attemting to create life. It started with the desert, but nothing would live there. The climate stopping the life crom creating, it created discorded between the anciant gods, who separated and all dived in the seas to build new continents to try and create life.

The Mother God, who resented conflict, had been reluctant to follow others. She dwelved in the desert and through patience and ingeniuity, she slowly built life. While the gods took the time to perfect flora and folliage, she took a week of her time, day and night, to create all the animals she could make. At the end of her week, she looked back at what she had done, smiled upon her creations before her hapiness faded. The animals were pretty, intriguing, ingenius and resillient, they were not attuned to her. They didnt notice her, nor felt her energy, and thus she could'nt interract with them, and it saddened her. So she guessed, that if she created a creature that was simmilar to her and the gods, peraps those could see her.

So she did. as the sun set. While it was getting dark, she gathered the sand and soil, she mixed it with the waters of the seas and grounded crystal dust in her cement. With that, she took a vial of her blood and, when she had build the humans, she doused them in her blood so that they would be able to see her. Then, she infused them with the gift of life.

She then realized that the humans had more needs that her other creations to survive, so she went to the other gods to ask for plant life. When they refused, but demanded she gave them the reciepe for humans, she became angry. She stole lake water and secret seeds that had yet to be planted, and adressed that if they dared steal her children from her, she'd deploy her wrath. When the first human civilization were setteled, the gods tried and corrupt some of them. It is said that she gave her priests the powers to curse those who turned on her, but some of the priests gave in to the old god's machinations. When they tunrned onto their own people, and she realized what she has done, she fell to her knees and cried. The emotion hit the priests through their hearts and dried it like the sand of the desert. The cursed were locked down in the rock, and the civilization moved away.

Priesthood

The immams usually dress extremely humbly compared to the rest of the population. Usualy, the population shows off their clothes, jewelry, headresses ect... in order to show pride in their being and in their character to the Mother Goddess. Contrary to that, immams and dinis (most of the time) live in modesty and humblery, because they are required to serve the population and commune with the Goddess almost constantly, thus she always has her eyes on them and it would be like insulting her sight to try by trying to attract her attention. In the end, their pride in serving the Mother God and their community is more than enough.

You can learn to become one by asking the immam of you community to become their apprentice as an adolecent/young adult. You will, if you parents agree, travel to the delta where the Jameia is held. The Jameia is a great assembly of Dinis and immams, where you will learn to live and give your life to your people and to the Mother God. You can also learn to fight and master weapons that have been enchanted by the Goddess. There always is an enchanted weapon in most temples.

Dinis differ from immams in the sense that they are greatly trusted priests. They are completely part of the gouvernement of Nahamira. The descendents of a Dini have more chances to become one if they choose the path of religion, due to the influence and thread-pulling that happens in the spheres of the Dinis.

Political Influence & Intrigue

As said before, Dinins are completely part of every political discussion. They siege at every council, and there is at least one per bigger city. In the Madina Almina per exemple, we count five Dinis, three of wich actually hold the position of immam.
