The Golden Well
The Golden Well was a brothel located on the main square of Senva Square.
House of Ill Repute
The Golden Well was established in 692 by Endayla Handronen, an imperant who had learned to use her Power to draw secrets from her clients as well as a hefty sum of money. From the beginning, Handronen sought to create a high-class establishment, one that saw the business of the wealthy and noble classes when they chose to visit Senva Square. With exclusive clientele, the men and women that worked at the Golden Well were also held to a high standard. Prostitutes were expected to be clean--no illegal substance use at any time and no venereal diseases upon hiring. They were expected to remain in good physical health and maintain proper hygiene and submit for weekly inspections to confirm this. Any potentially useful information gleaned from a client was to be immediately reported to Handronen, and any secrets discovered were never to be shared outside the walls of the Golden Well. Depending on the severity of the infraction, failure to meet these standards could mean expulsion from the Golden Well or a suspicious death, but those who agreed to live by them found a life of relative safety and comfort unheard of in Senva Square. It was not only the prostitutes who were held to high standards. Clients were expected to follow their own code of conduct. What happened in the privacy of the suites was their own business, but if they were found to be mistreating a prostitute, they would face Handronen's wrath. Clients were also held responsible if they impregnated a prostitute. Handronen would personally get involved in the legal process for securing child support if the client denied paternity. Though primarily a brothel, the Golden Well also catered to those looking to carry out clandestine business. Those that utilized the private meeting suites were not those looking to carry out violent or petty crimes, however. Much like the normal clients, these criminals were of the more elite variety, those seeking to involve themselves in political corruption, extensive smuggling operations, and trading of rare and illegal goods. They were likely aware that Handronen listened in on most conversations somehow, but she was a woman of secrets. So long as they didn't cross her, nothing that transpired under her roof would be reported to authorities. After Handronen's murder in 713, the Golden Well was looted and burned down by those that saw it as a monument to imperant rule.Silver's Claw
Silver's Claw, the organization responsible for the Silver Eagle Rebellion and the fall of Queen Elena Ahyen, found a sympathizer in Handronen. She allowed them access to private rooms and the promise of not telling authorities, so long as they paid an extra sum on top of the going rate. She even used her own network to supply them information she thought might be useful, again for a price.
