Goliaths

Description

Goliaths are a tall race of humanoids associated with Elemental Earth who are mostly found in mountainous and arctic areas. Their gray-skinned bodies are entirely hairless and have somewhat similar qualities as rock, and are just as hard. They are rarely seen traveling, as they find value in uncovering every secret of their homelands and they are fiercely territorial.
They live for the Eternal Game, and turn literally everything into a competition. They pride themselves on each and every victory, particularly those which surpass their own previous records. The downside of this trait is that the constant comparison to their past achievements can also have strongly negative mental effects on those who fail to surpass their past achievements. But regardless of result, they carry each victory or defeat on their bodies, literally.
Because Goliaths carry full-body tattoos of varying size. The initial tattoos are placed when they come of age and depict their heritage and ancestry, but further work is constantly added to depict their achievements, as well as their failures. One well-versed in their particular dialect of Giant and skilled in the reading of tattoos could construct a chronologically accurate timeline of not only their great deeds, but also their greatest failures. And so Goliaths carry their entire history with them, at all times.

In the Broken Plains and Middenland.

One of the two major groups of Goliaths originates from around the Pale Mountains that separate Middenland and The Broken Plains. In centuries past, many of them came down and went to the north to be part of what was then the Valleian Empire. The Empire may have been wiped out in the Great Catastrophe, but even in current times many can still be found scattered in tribes around the Broken Plains. Some of them have also moved to the northern Duchy of Armastria in Middenland.
They place a great deal of importance on honor in daily live. They do not have a central government, so to them honor is a combination of courage and personal integrity. To retain personal bonds, you have to be a dependable person, a person of integrity. And an honorable man, is a man who can face his fate with courage, no matter what may happen.

In the Eastern Steppes.

The Buyantu who live in the northeastern part of the Eastern Steppes in the mountain range they call Amid Bulkhai, are mostly comprised of Goliaths. They are a militant, religious people who strongly believe that everyone has a role to play and place a great deal of importance on duty. They see society almost like a living creature, and the well-being of society is the responsibility of all.

In Mészbanya.

Down in the far south live the sarkidéli people. Traditionally fishermen and hunters, the brémenyan sarkideli have gone in a different direction of industrialization recently. Regardless they all have to deal with the harsh environment, thankfully Goliaths are well-adapted to the cold and they are physically strong. They hold animist beliefs where every object and creature has a spirit, and they consider it important to respect these spirits. Proper deference to the spirits will be rewarded, whereas desecration can lead to catastrophe.
