Sackins' Family Crypt
Purpose / Function
This crypt's purpose was to house all the dead bodies of the members of House Sackins.
Design
Mausoleum: It was a rectangular construction made of common stone bricks.
Corridor to Crypt: This a long rectangular room in which the walls, from this point on, are made of Dwarven Stone-Carved Brick
General Crypt (First room): This chamber is a large quadrangular room. There are several columns spread in it and small rectangular rentrances are carved in the walls. Inside them lies the skeletons of many distant cousins and uncles/aunts of House Sackins.
Main Family Crypt: This last chamber is a "T" shaped room. By the sides of the "T" lies the coffins of Lady Diana Sackins' mother and brother (they both died in the beggining of the Uprising. On the far end of the "T" lies the coffin of Lady Diana Sackins herself.
Entries
The only entrance for the crypt is inside the ruined mausoleum: a huge hole lies in the northern part of the construction.
Sensory & Appearance
Light: There are torches spread all across the place, but they are not lit, for the Gnolls have excellent darkvision.
Smell: The smell of rotting corpses and putridity is constant in this place. "Who the fuck thought it would be a good idea to leave the corpses laying without cover?"
Hear: They can hear the constant noise of gnolls talking in halfling and laughing like hyenas (hi hi hi). The divine caster of the group can also hear a really quiet whisper coming from the farthest chamber.
Denizens
The Gnolls that are guarding this place are also living there. Furthermore, the banshee of Lady Diana Sackins is "living" in the last chamber.
Valuables
- All of the skeletons of the halflings have a couple gold pieces on their eye socket. If players decide to gather all of them, they acquire 50 gold pieces (in the skeletons in the main chamber there are platinum pieces instead).
- The Gnolls have no gold, but they each have 1d4 rations and regular gnoll combat items (spear, shield, leather armor). The sorcerers also have a component bag.
Hazards & Traps
There's a couple of Hidden Floor Spikes on the corridor that leads to the crypt.
Alterations
The upper part of the cryot (the construction) was destroyed in the 354 BBE historic ravaging storm. Now only the ruins of the place remains.
Architecture
The upper construction is built with common stone bricks. However, the walls of the catacombs itself is made of large Dwarven Stone-Carved Bricks
History
The Sackins Crypt was contructed a few years after the foundation of Syrup. The King ordered its construction when he decided to bring all the dead Sackins from the old graveyard back in Haven and return them to their rest in halfling lands. Therefore, the crypt was quickly dug and built and in the year 375 BBE it was inaugurated.
The place was widely visited during its first years but it became a ghost town (almost literally) when more time passed. And to make things worse, in the year 354 BBE, a little more than 20 years after its construction, the upper part of the crypt was destroyed by the Great Storm of 54. It is now in ruins and almost no one visits the place anymore.
