Baoyu Sect

Baoyu Sect is one of, if not the, most powerful cultivation sects in Zhongguo at the current time. Founded in 2193 by Wu Shenzhen, shortly after Moliliexia - The Rift became inaccessible, the sect now holds the territory of Quanqiu. As it contains a valley that goes between the Yellow River and the Yangtze River, Baoyu Sect profits richly off the trade that travels by those rivers. As well, Quanqiu was the original home of the Shang Dynasty, the dynasty who ruled before and during the change of the world caused by The Rift.   Currently led by Wu Zibai, who may or may not be a descendent of Wu Shenzhen, Baoyu Sect focuses on a combination of resource trade - due to their proximity to The Rift, there are a number of plants with valuable traits available in their territory - and hunting Yao and Guai that appear in Quanqiu. (Or, sometimes, outside its boundaries.) The fact that the sect has been in existence for over a millennium is also a source of power, as it implies that their strength, and that of their cultivators, are among the most formidable.

The leader of Baoyu Jiaopai, Wu Zibai, has no desire for the Moliliexia to be closed. He gains too much power by the influence it has on plants and animals - both power because of his Baoyu Jiaopai being the largest sect, and because of his stranglehold on certain valuable herbs and animal parts.

Baoyu Jiaopai is a sect in the country of Zhongguo. As a semi-autonomous region, Baoyu Jiaopai essentially rules over most facets of its territory, superceded only by the laws that are common for the entire country.   Baoyu Jiaopai has a great deal of power in Zhongguo, in part because of its resources. Not everyone in the Zhongguo government is pleased about this, despite Baoyu Jiaopai's status as a semi-autonomous region.
