Path of the Berserker

Berserkers are barbarians who walk a path of untrammeled fury, slick with blood. They thrill in the chaos of battle, heedless of their own health or wellbeing. Once their blood starts to boil, it will only be sated by the deaths of their enemies.   Midgardian berserkers of are divided into berserkir, who wear bear pelts and often carry shields, and ulfheðnar, who wear wolf pelts and wield twin seaxes they call "fangs".   Gaesatae are berserkers who paint themselves with woad and fight in the nude, wearing only a belt for their sword and carrying a large shield, to avoid being caught in brambles or other unfavorable terrain.   Orc berserkers wear boar pelts instead of bear pelts and forgo shields, focusing on attacking.   While raging, berserkers have clouded, white eyes and fight on as though immune to pain. Often berserkers are defeated only after succumbing to their wounds or being outright killed. Even fatal wounds may fail to stop them from claiming the lives of their foes and lost limbs are only likely to slow them down.   Due to their reputation for inhuman savagery and tenacity, berserkers are often dreaded on and off the battlefield. Their rage can make them ill-suited for diplomatic matters relying on patience and cool heads.   Odinn is the patron god of Midgardian berserkers.
