The Marshlyn Family
The first in line to the throne after the Astrid Family, the Marshlyns are the second most important noble family in Shirdal. Direct descendants from the original King of Shirdal, the first Lord Marshlyn was Liam Astrid's younger son Corvus Astrid. Feeling he wasn't ready to take over the throne yet, Liam decided instead to leave Shirdal to his older son Ursa while Corvus got the newly created province and title of Marshlyn. Angry and feeling slighted, Corvus vowed he would lead Marshlyn to heights that would rival his brother the new king.
Ever since the days of Corvus Marshlyn, the Marshlyns have been a force to be reckoned with in Shirdal. Cunning and rumored to have Enlil's blood still flowing through them, those in the family who do not end up working in politics tend to end up going into the Followers of Enlil to work as high priests.
Though the relationship with the Astrids has always been one of a slight rivalry, in the more recent years the families have grown much closer again.
