Skinsliders
Skinsliders, formerly known as skinwalkers and renamed in deference to the Navajo people, are shape-changers born to humans. Around puberty, they manifest the ability to shed their skins and take on the appearance of the last person they have touched. They gain insight into that person’s mind as well, often able to tap their memories.
Once the cycle of skin shedding begins, it is essentially never-ending; skinsliders usually begin this cycle before they have fully psychologically grasped their sense of self and thus cannot return to their original form. They remain wanderers, stealing people’s faces to meet their ends.
