Find Steed
2nd-rank - Conjuration Priest Spell: Animals Spirit
You summon a spirit that either assumes the form of an unusually intelligent, strong, and loyal steed (Spirit Domain), or possess an existing beast / monstrosity (Animals Domain), creating a long-lasting bond with it as a mount.
If you are summoning a spirit steed (Spirit Domain), it appears in a circle of light in an unoccupied space within range, taking on a form that you choose. Examples might include a warhorse, a pony, a camel, an elk, or a mastiff, but other forms could be available to you at the discretion of the GM if you have seen them before.
If you are summoning a spirit to possess an existing beast or monstrosity (Animals Domain), the target must have Intelligence 4 or less. The target rolls a Wisdom saving throw. If it fails, the possession succeeds and the target becomes your steed. If the saving throw succeeds, the spell ends.
Either way, once the spell is in effect the steed has the statistics of the chosen form, though it is an Outsider instead of its normal type. Additionally, if your steed has an Intelligence of 5 or less, its Intelligence becomes 6, and it gains the ability to understand one language of your choice that you speak. The steed has the highest hit point maximum possible for its type.
Your steed serves you as a mount, both in combat and out, and you have an instinctive bond with it that allows you to fight as a seamless unit. While mounted on your steed, you can make any spell you cast that targets only you also target your steed.
When the steed drops to 0 hit points, the spirit dissipates. You can also dismiss your steed at any time as an action. In either case, casting this spell again summons the steed again, restored to its hit point maximum. For Animals Domain castings, you must have a new target beast or monstrosity to possess.
While your steed is within 1 mile of you, you can communicate with it telepathically.
You can't have more than one steed bonded by this spell at a time. As an action, you can release the steed from its bond at any time.
