Session 156 - "Disrespect Your Surroundings"

General Summary

Rozenport

8.32p

The Fellowship begins making their way through the sewer tunnel. Kelath points to a small pile of leaves and debris and how it appears to have been arrange on purpose. Kyrrn also notices deep scoring along the walls… both walls, running down the length of the tunnels. The damage appears acidic in nature. Pol hasn't seen the creature, but he's heard stories about Gulguthra the Cleaner, some demon-beast that loves the sewers and anything in its path gets cleaned. The Rowers call her (it) the Duchess of Slime. Kyrrn wonders if it could be an Otyugh, huge creatures which are often found in big sewers like this in cities, however they normally don't have an acidic nature. Are the result of magical experimentation and are thought to be related to crocodiles. They live on garbage and sewage and are typically allowed to live as long as they remain within the sewers.   X notices just below the waterline is a small chain that seems to be coming out of the masonry that drops down into the water. The Unworthy Soul draws attention to it as well. Kelath moves to the spot and attempts to disarm the device, which appears to be connected to a pressure plate under the water that triggers something to come out of the walls.   As the party continues, Pol informs them that he wants to take One-Eye alive and to limit collateral damage as he still has to live in the city.

Further down the tunnel at a corner there is a ladder that leads up to a sewer grate and Kelath notices what he thinks looks like another pressure plate in the masonry of the walkway. He skillfully disables it as well.   The east passage show large sewer pipes that empty at various rates into the tunnel. X notices in an alcove is what seems to be a rusted iron door across from one pipe. It appears that it has been used recently. He checks the door and it appears to have been locked from the inside, and there is a keyhole on the face of it. The sound of voices can be heard beyond the door. Pol indicates it is the right direction to go. The voices sound like the people within are talking and engaging in a dice game, roughly about five. Pol again stresses that they need One-Eye alive and can be recognized by a white patch over his eye instead of a normal black one.

8.52p

X masterfully and soundlessly picks the lock. X goes to kick down the door when Pol suddenly calls for him to stop. Pol does something and breaks a small piece of chain and then drops it into the water. X quickly resumes to kicking the door down and the chants a spell as he begins to enlarge. Over his shoulder, Kyrrn manifests an animated assault as small objects begin whipping around in a maelstrom, eliciting cries of surprise within. Kelath strikes an encouraging stance and cries out if those inside to lay down their weapons and they will be spared. Neferu boosts the Unworthy Soul and it moves into position. Pol rushes inside the room and points to the northeast, yelling "He's over here!" before quickly rushing back out of the room. Alarm continues to erupt within the room, various voices yelling to get the money and to get the door. One of the gang runs to engage, but quickly stops upon seeing the gigantic Velexander. Another one moves around and shouts that he doesn't care who or what he is, but he's in Rower territory and that he's going down. X smashes into him with his head, nearly driving the man down to the ground. His nose snaps and blood pours down his face. Nonplussed, the Rower strikes out at X but hopelessly misses. Another one within yells for One-Eye to get out as he moves out of the flying field of objects. Someone else inside yells for someone to open the door. Several others begin moving to the northeast as well.   Despite his large size, X tumbles past the first attacker and then flies over two more to get past them. Kyrrn tumbles pasts the first one and then creates a wall of force between the Rowers and their escape route. Kelath strides around the corner and brings his dragon winged sword on the first Rower, expressing his irritating that his orders are not being followed. He evangelizes and the Rower in front of Kyrrn is suddenly stupefied as Kelath continues his litany against them. Neferu rounds the corner and lashes an arc of electricity down the hallway, laying to waste to the gang members there. Pol runs into the room and attempts to diffuse the situation, telling the remaining members that he just wants to talk. They raise they hands in submission. One-Eye attempts to move away and X smacks him with the flat of his sword in response.   Kelath begins to wipe the blood from his blade and cautions that One-Eye should give over any information Pol asks for. He says that he doesn't know much, but that there is a lieutenant that goes by Two-Knuckle Nallon, but other than that he doesn't know anything. He offers to tell them how to find Nallon in exchange for their lives. Kelath tells him they will be taking him with them. Kyrrn reads One-Eye's mind and learns that Two-Knuckle is at a tavern called the Lucky Catch, his one good eye widening in shock. Nyrrk slips out and tells him,
"You're lucky you caught us on a good day."
Pol and One-Eye exchange a spat upon handshake and the remaining Rowers begin to depart. Neferu and Kelath notice something is disturbing the water as it swims beneath the surface. When asked about the creature in the sewers, One-Eye tells them that they better have payment for the Duchess. Nyrrk again surfaces, asking:
"Do you think she would take your head?"
The color drains from One-Eye's face and he fumbles to open a secret door in the wall and then leave.

9.02p

Pol quickly takes the lead and begins making his way out. However, he quickly stops at the corner and indicates that they may have company, the Duchess of Slime herself. She is a greyish-brown quadrupedal creature that is large and heavy, having a blubbery and slimy exterior. Its giant mouth filled is with teeth and a large slobbering tongue, the smell of feces and rot wafted out from it, even in the sewer. Three large tendrils protruded out of an Duchess' body. Two these are large tentacle-like arms that had a long curved tooth-like protrusion at their ends. It is apparent that her mouth is filled with diseases and a bite could cause one to become infected by its poisonous saliva. The third tentacle protrudes out of her head and contained three vertical eyes. She is making her way down the tunnel so far unaware of their presence.   X climbs the ladder and checks to see where goes. He emerges to the open docks with the Lucky Catch being clearly visible. Everyone makes their way back topside and converge on the Lucky Catch.

9.12p

The first thing that is noticeable is the number of shaven heads that are sitting around the tavern. Pol allows them to take the lead and stays behind the group, trying to look inconspicuous. X and Kyrrn quickly make their way with purpose around the room towards a door in the back, but X notices Two-Knuckle at the bar and points him out the rest of the group. A man behind the bar with a black patch introduces himself as One-Eye Griffo. X tells him he may want to leave because he has business here. Several of the tavern's patrons get up and leave. Two-Knuckle puts a hand on the table, showing the lone pair of fingers there. He dismisses Velaxander's desire to speak with him and ignores his attempts. X gives a heavy sigh… and then blows a gout of draconian fire on the lot of Rowers at the bar. Kyrrn unleashes a torrent of magic missiles, dropping two of them and gravely injuries a third. One Rower attempts to tumble past Kelath but is wickedly slashed instead for his trouble. He tries his luck past the Soul and comes up snake-eyes instead and has his throat savagely tore out. The Soul makes his way around the bar and rips out the spine of the last Rower there. Kelath attempts to take a stance, but his rage at the encounter overcomes him. He grabs Two-Knuckle, bears down on him, and tell his to sit down and give the information they are asking for. The fingerless man stammers his compliance.   Pol makes his way over to Two-Knuckle as X reliefs the cash till of its contents and asks what he knows. After some persuasion, Two-Knuckles comes clean. He says Magistrate Quillspine is holding somebody and that he's not going to like who it is, Pol's cousin, Larissa. Enraged he begins choking the life from man until he lies still. Still in a fury, Pol tells them that Quillspine is dirty and on the take and is holding her for the Rowers.

9.22p

Kelath pours a round of drinks and has Pol explain the situation. Larissa was on her way back from Thrushmoor and has probably been in his company for a few days now. The magistrate is the local authority for collecting taxes in this area. With renewed resolve, the Fellowship begins to set out again. As everyone leaves, Kyrrn lays 5 gp on the bar before walking out as well.

9.32p

Pol storms off to the south with the Fellowship quickly following. He points to a nearby building and makes his way around it. People give way before him as he rounds the front. Kelath puts a hand on Pol's shoulder and tells him that they need to make a plan before charging into the house. Pol tells him that Quillspine probably won't be well-guarded due to his arrangement with the Rowers. Preparing to enter, X conjures an illusory boulder to block the back door of the house. The Fellowship barges in as the magistrate sputters his indigence, also startles a young secretary bearing tea as well. Kelath questions the secretary about the missing girl as Pol rounds the desk and begins strangling the magistrate. She keeps nervously eyeing the door to the east, but eventually gives a key to Kelath, claiming to know nothing about the situation. He thanks her and asks her to take her leave. The young lady thanks him and flees into the night. Kelath finds the door free of precautions and unlocks it. Inside the small room is a trapdoor in the floor. Opening the door, the party sees that the space below is dark and quiet with a steel ladder leading to another room below. Still another door is barely visible on one wall. One by one, the Fellowship makes its way down.   Opening the door reveals another small room with the scent of the sewer. There are a few crates pushed against one wall and little else. Beyond another door seeps the sound of voices as well as some light creeping out from under it. Trying to listen carefully, they believe that there may be as many as ten people beyond. Eager to continue with the evening's events, X opens the door and asks,
"Did anyone order a vodka tonic?"
He takes an exceptionally deep breath and practically vomits a huge gout of fire into the room, badly burning most of the men inside and catching loose papers on fire. Neferu follows suit and drops a fireball amongst them as well. Two thugs fall charred to the ground, one barely left standing and the Soul walks into the room. A group of four thugs work in concert and attempt to take on X. Another door opens to the south and someone yells out, "What the fuck is going on?" Kyrrn walks in as well and rips through crowd telekinetically. Kelath steps in, appraises the crew, and then rips into them with his dragon winged sword. Another Rower rushes in from another room and leaps onto the table and runs at Kelath. Still another staggers out, but just makes his way away from the fracas.
