Thrushmoor
The ancient settlement of Thrushmoor can be found in the Ustalavic county of Versex. Its architecture is wood and stucco walled buildings with pointed, wooden shingled roofs. Thrushmoor is sited at the mouth of the Danver River, on the shores of Lake Encarthan, and long rumored to be cursed in some way.
Government
Count Haserton Lowls IV is the current overlord of Versex, but has little interest in ruling the land and has disseminated power to local mayors and magistrates. Because of an issue between him and the deans, Lowls ordered the closure of the Sincomaki School of Sciences in Rozenport. He also shows a childlike obsession with the legend of the Watcher in the Bay, believing he might be able to use it to bring power to himself and Thrushmoor.Locations
Government/Law
- Fort Hailcourse: Built in the early days of Thrushmoor, Fort Hailcourse has been the seat of Thrushmoor’s military garrison and of the town’s magistrate for nearly 500 years. The present building stands on the eastern crest of the double hillock at the north edge of town. The fort houses a small garrison of 20 Drumish mercenaries who serve the county.
Accommodation/Food
- The Broken Compass: A stable that is located just across from the Silver Wagon and works in partnership with them. It is run by Old Clanartus.
- The Silver Wagon: The Silver Wagon is Thrushmoor’s only inn, and as a result, one of the town’s most prosperous businesses. It offers comfortable beds in secure rooms, and the taproom downstairs often features live music. The innkeeper is Dena Gallegos.
- The Stain: The oldest tap house in Thrushmoor, the Stain has catered to local and foreign customers for longer than anyone in town can remember. The events of the past few months have soured the inn’s atmosphere, but patrons always brighten up when Emman Gulston’s good whiskey starts to go round and fervent card games are played at the tables. If their pockets allow it, many customers enjoy the friendly ambiance after dusk, although no one dares to return home too late at night.
Points of Interest
- Iris Hill: The residence of the Lowls family since Pragmus Lowls I built it in 4487 AR, Iris Hill stands ominously atop a hill on the northwestern edge of town. Although it has fallen into a state of disrepair, the manor and its annexed buildings are by far the most impressive civilian structures within Thrushmoor.
