Geography
Cartographers and seafarers have identified the general shape of the continent to be 'Bean shaped'. A long mountain range roughly divides the continent from north to south. Forests stretch through most of the world, except for the desertified region in the north and the marshlands towards the south where the rivers entwine. Trails leak through the impressive mountain peaks and the land beyond further to the rest is a lot more rocky, full of ridges and dense woodlands. A massive crater was left in the plateau east of the mountains by the Great Cataclysm. Indeed, the plateau is a result of the cataclysm, the blast having decimated the woodlands, flattened the land and created my of the valleys, ridges and rivers that mark the continent.
Fauna & Flora
The land east of the mountain ranges where the Cataclysm was felt the most is young by comparison, with many of the trees and plant life growing centuries after the impact. Ample water and rain in the south, plus distance from the Cataclysm, allowed for more densely packed woods and taller trees. Where the rivers are closer, marshlands developed and are home to swamp life. In the north, where the equatorial winds push the heat of the earth and the land is fairly flat, a desert stretches. Arid land with shifting sands and some mighty rivers nestle civilization.
Natural Resources
Iron and coal are prominent under the hills the city of Weinkauf is located, and the smiths there have learned to work steel. Herds of horses and cattle roam the great plateau created by the Cataclysm. Fresh water falls from the sky in rain and pours through the many rivers and lakes through the land. The mountain ranges in the centre are known mostly as holy sights, but are also the domain of miners and quarries. There, stone, coal, jewels and other precious materials are mined.

Very interesting how a natural disaster can have its good side. I'd like to know more about the Cataclysm...
