Becoming a Mask

The two main celebrative moments of a young Lucemi's life are the birth, this is rather a celebration for the family, the mother in particular, and when they become a masks. At this point they also choose their name, it's their second birthday.

The time before

Kids usually have simple mask, are free to design them, change them, but are also free to not wear them in public.

Times as a child are wonderful. You are allowed to freely unfold, try things and play around. There is no particular time when you become an adult, but usually somewhen around when the child's body finished developing a vocation has crystallized, though it can be much earlier and later. For this children are welcomed for a trial in every guild, to learn from freelancers or scholars and often send to them to be cared for too. Developing the child's mind and character is seen as a collective task of society.

When they decide on a profession they also choose a mentor. This, most of the time, is a guild member and thus they also enter the guild at the same time. The mentor then proceeds by helping the child to design and forge their mask. Also they choose a name. The children then travel, if they do not live in there, to Lucem with their mentor. There they are shown around, are introduced to other guild members, relevant acquaintances or just points and people of interest. One thing always shown is the Divasa. While all this happens they also prepare the new mask for the important day.

The great day

Finally this day, the first day of a month, arrives at which The Council welcomes them in our society.

All new masks gather in the City Hall of Lucem, family-, guildmembers, friends and curious people attend in a festive manner too, and introduce their mask, it's name and aimed vocation. They also need to state the current goal of their mask. This is then approved by The Council after a rather playful defending procedure.
The Conrui ask them questions about their speech and also offer other mentors or professions if they see better fit or greater value in them or just want to test if they are confident with their place. A tense moment for the mentors too, as it can be hard to loose a loved scholar. Generally they already did their deeds to form the young Lucemi to this point.

They wouldn't consider to harm their way anyways. Most of the times , and this happens rarely, they only propose a switch in a earnest way when a member of the Council's Guild hints it to the Conrui. The Lucemi of intereset will notice, as they will be tested way harder and their talent was found early anyways. In thougher situations, be it a talent of question or a difficult attendant, the-soon-to-be adult and his Mentor will be approached after the ceremony.

At last their mask is documented in the Book of Masks by the Tabrus and if needed given the allowance for a piece of land fitting.

When they survived the tense procedure only the happy part is left. During the festivities after it attending Lucemi offer them presents to help them with their goal. This can be contacts, it can be a weapon, a tool, offerages of help to build their house or just some expertise for their way.

You see there are many things going on at this important day. I remember mine and legs can quickly decide to grow weak in front of the The Council.
