Humanoids
Natives of the
Material Plane, they were created in the image of the
Old Creator Gods and now have created others between their unions. Originally made to inherit the
Material Plane the Humanoids were meant to watch over the world and act as an extension of the gods that created them. Throughout the ages these sapient species grew to their own, some losing the gods and finding their own beliefs. Humanoids have grown to hold the greatest cities, the most varied societies, and some of the oldest standing traditions.
Sub-Races
Kingdoms rich in ancient grandeur, halls carved into the roots of mountains, the echoing of picks and hammers in deep mines and blazing forges, a commitment to family and tradition, and a burning hatred of
Monster Brood—these common threads unite all dwarves. The dwarves are smaller than the rest of their fellow Humanoids, but they are no less fierce or large of spirit. Created with the intention to build and make defenses, dwarves are experts in masonry, smithing, and protection. They were meant to be the master builders of the protections to keep the gods safe and the titans at bay from destroying their creations.
Elves are a magical people of otherworldly grace, living in the world but not entirely part of it. They live in places of ethereal beauty, in the midst of ancient forests or in silvery spires glittering with faerie light, where soft music drifts through the air and gentle fragrances waft on the breeze. Elves were created with the intention to hone the
Magical Weave of the world that was formed from the wars between the
Gods and the
Titans. Elves are often regarded as beautiful by other species and have grown to understand the
Magical Weave so well, that they are nearly one with it.
Humans are the most adaptable and ambitious people among the common races. They have widely varying tastes, morals, and customs in the many different lands where they have settled. When they settle, though, they stay: they build cities to last for the ages, and great kingdoms that can persist for long centuries. An individual human might have a relatively short life span, but a human nation or culture preserves traditions with origins far beyond the reach of any single human’s memory. Humans live in the present and are constantly seeking to find advancements. Humans were created with the intention to persist, to be different from the other Humanoids. They were meant to change and to be unique from each other, so that they could serve the gods in their moments of need.
Orcs were created to be the masters of martial abilities. Originally created to tame the wilds, the Orc were given brawn and fortitude to allow them to push further into the wilds in an effort to form their clans. Orc are naturally distrusting and generally brutish. Often seen as brutal and savage by the other Humanoids, Orc have become much of what the gods intended, although sometimes an extreme version of such; making their way around the world in clans bound by blood and war, killing where they go. Whether it is animals, the plants, or even the other races , Orcs forcefully shape their surroundings to their needs. They would be just as likely to burn down a forest as to use it for building homes or to fuel a crud mountain forge. Orcs are usually not seen as the smartest, but do strengthen the other Humanoid races through their constant fighting and warring for territory. It is the Orcs that carry out the cycle of renewal and destruction that the
Gods deemed need to exist.
