Dunai Ivanovich
Dunai is another famed bogatyrs who spent nearly a century encased in stone in the Cave of the Sleeping Bogatyrs, and was revived by the Serpent Slayers using the Water of Life and Water of Death. He was the second bogatyr to be brought back to life, and for the time being, the last, as the Ladles for Water of Life and Water of Death had lost their potency before any more could be brought back.
Dunai is the younger of the two bogatyrs (though he is now also over 100 years old). In telling his tale, he mentioned that he is originally from the Principality of Galinda, though he also served Noriki princes in the west. Dunai talked about his tragic love affair with the younger sister of the Galind prince, Anastasia. When he fell out of favor with that magnate, and was thrown into a dungeon, Anastasia freed him, and allowed him to escape to Nor'. He later returned as part of an embassy to seek to conclude a match between the Galind prince's elder daughter Apraksa. When he got to Laima, he paid no attention to Anastasia, but during his trip home, he is challenged by another bogatyr, who he defeats. While trying to finish the challenger off, he suddenly discovers that it is in fact Anastasia, and the passion between the two is rekindled. After returning home, at his prince's wedding feast, both Dunai and Anastasia boasted of their heroic prowess. Anastasia claimed to be the best archer present, and Dunai, who made a claim to be the bravest, takes up her challenge. Anastasia placed a ring on top of Dunai's head, and shot an arrow through it. Dunai, not wanting to be outdone, then placed the ring on top of Anastasia's head, but missed, killing her, and then, finding out, to his horror, that she was carrying his child - a magical boy, whose limbs were covered in gold and silver. Heartbroken, Dunai rode to the east, and entered the service of the Grand Prince of Bogumil. At that point, his story converged with that of the other revived bogatyr - Stavr Godinovich.
Like his comrade, Dunai, now suddenly finding himself single, has an eye for the ladies. He is also of a practical mindset, and recommended that the Serpent Slayers sell the now non-magical ladles, which must be worth a tremendous amount of money. Still, Dunai's tragic story obviously weighs on him, and he can often be found staring off into the distance, deep in thought. Still, he is grateful for being brought back, and willing to serve the Serpent Slayers in any way he can. He was also able to call his mount after exiting the caves, and then, seemed willing to allow two large volkodlaks - Alden and Lokan - to ride with him. He helped escort some refugees the party found along the road to Ladeisk, and once there, entered the service of Prince Trofim Andreevich of Ladeisk, feeling that he had to help protect the city from the wolves in the North and the Kochmaki in the South.
