Session 21 - Rider from Beyond the Grave

General Summary

Hamal  was heading back to the village when he spotted a rider on the road. The rider looked suspiciously dead. Hamal swam through the river so he could beats rider back to town . When he arrived at town he paid Prokhor to warn Lada of the impending danger.
He then ran to the nunnery and warned the nuns. Soon thereafter he started to follow the dead rider through the village. Irina heard of the danger to the town and ran into town where she too started to follow the former bishop's guard. The dead soldier decapitates Yegor - son of Gavrilo the Potter, and rides toward the cemetery with the head. However Irina and Hamal catch up to him before he can do anything, and the rider headed north toward the bridge over the Zhmulevka. They do locate the body of a dog, horrifically trampled by the rider's horse.
Lada heard that there is trouble and went to the convent where she does not find Irina. She did however take our story's true protagonist - Sharik with her from St. Aleksandr's. They search fruitlessly for the others. Hearing the church bells ringing, Vashti starts the long walk to town.
Irina and Hamal find the dead mounted soldier inspecting the graveyard. Battle is engaged, and the undead foe is forced to retreat into the woods, but not before inflicting serious harm onto Hamal.
Lada caught up, and Hamal is healed of his injuries.
Later, Vashti came into town. There is a bunch of back and forth but the end result is Vashti ended up sleeping at Lada's while Ivan and Hamal guard the graveyard.
In the morning funeral rites are held and our heroes discuss their next steps. Vashti warned that she has seen 6 vultures returning heading to town. These birds, she reckons, represent the bishops' guard.
More is discussed but nothing is decided.
