Session 43 - Up the Khavzai
General Summary
The party embarked on their northward journey along the river, encountering a series of unforeseen events. Camping in dry, hot weather, a peculiar interlude unfolded when Nadia's monkey displayed its magical ability, stealthily procuring oranges from Agnessa's supplies.
As they prepared for the night, Marina employed her magical skills to predict an impending storm. Seeking shelter, the party discovered a fisherman's dwelling, setting the stage for an unconventional proposal. Marina orchestrated a marriage deal between Ivan and *Sveta, the fisherman's daughter, to secure a dowry. Ivan's awkward attempts at courtship added an unusual aspect to the unfolding narrative.
Surprisingly, despite the awkwardness, the fisherman's wife accepted the proposal and offered Marina a fancy comb in gratitude for her assistance. The unexpected matrimonial arrangement introduced a quirky alliance within the party.
Their journey continued with encounters of mosquito swarms and treacherous quicksand pits. Strangely, only Marina and Nadia escaped the mosquito onslaught, but Marina paid an unexpected price—losing her voice. The blame fell on Nadia's monkey, accused of pilfering a many things, including Marina's voice.
In search of refuge, the party discovered what seemed to be an abandoned hut. Dukh insisted they seek shelter there. Inside, they found the motionless body of an old woman . Opting against burial due to suspicions of witchcraft, they witnessed an eerie turn of events when Marina, seemingly intentionally, pricked her finger on the crone's scythe. The old woman, believed to be lifeless, unexpectedly stirred, leaving the party on the precipice of a mysterious and potentially dangerous encounter.
