Montane Forests

The Montane Forests of the Tharsis Montes are characterized by a mix of deciduous and coniferous trees, including species of oak, maple, and aspen. These forests, which are sustained by the region's abundant geothermal activity and relatively high precipitation levels, are home to a diverse array of plant and animal life, including the Tharsis Thistle, a unique, purple-flowered plant that has become a symbol of Martian ecology.
