Qalvi Varai (Caul-vee Vuh-rye)
Master
Qalvi Varai (2,989 - 3,215 LE) was a blond Dafi Elvish man who had always been fascinated by the mystique of death and the unknown. As a young Dafi Elf, he delved deep into the study of necromancy, a practice that was considered sacrilegious by many in his community. Despite the taboo surrounding his chosen path, Qalvi was determined to uncover the secrets of the afterlife and harness the power of the void.
Varai's macabre reputation was informed by his noteworthy viciousness & the unprecedented skill of his necromancy. His abilities soon earned him the title of the Father of Necromancy. He invented a school of necromancy called Qalrya, which surpassed Vistaleia and Kangaya in its potential. He was known for his ability to raise entire armies of undead, using them to conquer and annex new lands in the name of his own twisted ambitions. Varai did not always conjure these undead with physical corpses, a previously impossible feat which was a unique feature of Qalrya.
As he grew older, Varai's thirst for knowledge and power only intensified and dammed up until it finally burst at the Massacre at Ravenheim (3,209 LE). His ravenous Leoni military campaign only became more and more expansionist with time, seeking out new sources of magical knowledge and seeking to dominate those around him. His cruelty knew no bounds, and he was feared and reviled by many who came into contact with him.
As Varai's power and influence grew, so did his desire for control. He became increasingly domineering, using his undead minions to enforce his will upon those who opposed him, and even those who didn't. Those who crossed him knew to fear the wrath of Varai and his undead minions, for they were a force to be reckoned with.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Consonant with his reputation, Qalvi Varai was a deeply troubled individual. He was haunted by the guilt of his perceived lenience on and weakness with others, and his thirst for power was fueled by a deep-seated fear of anonymity and uselessness. In the end, it was this fear that ultimately led to his downfall, as he was mentally assaulted by an imposed nightmare vision by Heilish warriors outside Thraaqai Forest, and ultimately defeated by those who cleverly & fatally ambushed his reign of terror.

Speech
"Those paltry, immature games... Devised by petty, preening sorcerers so very conceited by their notions that their underground sandcastle bears any genuine significance to the history of sorcery. Other than as a gateway to something Greater built right beneath its self-important chambers. An epicenter for a 'fatal, fierce thought current driven to spreading its noble, world-healing religion'? A mortal child could solve most of its so-called 'Gates'."Qalvi Varai, on the Ruins Bloodbark, shortly after a village massacre
