The Kings' Alliance

Overview

The King’s Alliance, often just referred to as the Alliance, is the largest Human faction in all of Mortale that governs the land of Civador. The Alliance is made up of mostly independent city-states whose rulers are overseen by the Oath King, the central figure of the Alliance. The kings and queens of the cities vary in personality, some are honorable and only want what's best for their people, while others are less so. The Alliance, unlike most other nations, welcomes foreign visitors for their exotic goods and rare talents, making Civador the most diverse and welcoming land for most races.

Structure

The city-states of Civador are ruled by kings and queens, aided by their own royal courts to manage day-by-day situations and lesser problems that don't require their lieges interference. The city-state rulers are left to govern their own cities as they see fit while also consistently updating the other rulers among the Alliance on their developing agendas during the bi-annual gatherings of Alliance rulers; all of which is overseen by the Oath King. The Oath King, an individual of nobility who is elected by the rulers of Civador, is sworn to keep the city-states peaceful and balanced in power, all the while remaining neutral.

Culture

Due to the fact the city-states were isolated from each other for many centuries, each city has developed its own unique and diverse beliefs, traditions, and even physical traits among its people. After the Alliance was formed, cultures from the cities started to spread to each other, soon establishing common ground between all of them. Rulers of the Kings' Alliance have decided to allow continued worship of city-states' previous deities, but has established the Olympian Pantheon as the kingdoms official pantheon.

Public Agenda

The cities of Civador support their citizens in their trades, wanting them to expand the economy and status of the city-states and the Alliance as a whole. The Alliance broadcast a strong message of peace, putting Royal Knights in the cities to ensure it. The Alliance also makes sure to appear friendly to potential visitors from other lands, wanting merchants offering resources not found in hilly-plains and forest dominated lands of Civador.

Assets

Civador is the land of plain, hills, and small but thick forest. The economy is full of lumber and mining guilds, the latter of which finds its business in silver and copper mining, with the occasional veins of gold. A plentiful amount of guilds can also be found in the land of men, ranging from Adventurers Guilds to Fishing Guilds.

History

Generations ago, the infamous Mad Mage took control of the city-state of Ealdgesegen, ruling as a sadistic tyrant who only cared about attaining more power. After two years of hell, a miracle arrived in the form of a young man who had become a legendary hero in far away lands. His name was Aldwyn Dawnlord, and he challenged the Mad Mage for the crown of Ealdgesegen. The hero won the battle, in turn freeing the city-state and becoming the new king. However, Dawnlord had brought troubling news with him, word of a great evil approaching Civador. So he sought out the kings of all the other city-states and convinced them to join him to combat the rising threat. For the first time in Civador’s history, all the city-states of the land united under one banner. They created the King’s Alliance. Then the Great Undead attacked and the Dead Wars began, lasting for five years until the High Lich was destroyed, and generations of prosperity and growth began for the new nation.

Foreign Relations

The King's Alliance is allied with nearly every other nation residing on the continent of Pelagus. The Alliance has strong relations with the neighboring Elves of Nobia and the Dwarven kingdom of Meador, although they do not directly border Civador. The Alliance remains neutral, but on good terms, with nations over the seas such as Khanzia and Paxador. However, the Alliance is enemies with the Orcs of Karador, currently in the middle of a cold war that threatens to spark again at any time. The King's Alliance also has little contact with Infernia, preferring to stay as far away from the demon infested land as possible.

Each city-state has its own order of lawmen, but each order is overseen by the Royal Army. The Royal Army serves under the Oath King and is lead by the Grand Royal Knight, who is viewed by the public as one of the most powerful combatants in all the lands, nigh undefeatable in combat.
