Fireside Tavern

Fireside Tavern is the heart and soul of Kuhlmgrut’s social scene, a place where dwarves and travelers alike gather to warm themselves, share stories, and enjoy a tankard (or three) of Firebrew’s famous ales. This cozy yet boisterous establishment exudes warmth and camaraderie, making it a beloved landmark for the city’s locals and a memorable stop for adventurers. The moment one steps through the heavy wooden doors of the tavern, the enticing smell of roasting meat, simmering stew, and the earthy aroma of ale fills the air.

Architecture

The tavern’s walls are built from dark, sturdy stone, adorned with trophies from past drinking contests and carved wooden plaques commemorating record-breaking drinkers. Tankards, ancient shields, and decorative axes hang alongside these trophies, each with a name etched into it to mark the victors of legendary drinking challenges. Mira’s regulars speak of these champions with reverence, challenging each other to best the records displayed on the walls.   At the heart of the tavern lies a massive fire pit, a blazing centerpiece that casts a warm, inviting glow throughout the establishment. The flames climb high, reaching toward the arched ceiling, where beams of dark wood catch the flickering light, giving the entire room a sense of hearty warmth. Dwarves often gather around the fire, sharing tales of the mines, battles fought, and songs passed down from ancestors.   Wooden tables and benches, crafted from hardy mountain oak, are arranged around the fire pit. The furniture bears the marks of countless rowdy nights, with scratches, dents, and even a few suspicious scorch marks telling tales of past revelries. The bar counter itself is a marvel, built from a single slab of stone and polished smooth over the years by thousands of hands and tankards sliding across it.

Tourism

Fireside Tavern is renowned for its drinking contests. Every month, Mira hosts the "Fireside Challenge," where patrons test their mettle against Firebrew’s strongest ales. Those who complete the challenge earn a commemorative tankard on the wall, etched with their name and date of victory. It’s a matter of pride for locals and a rite of passage for travelers who wish to prove their worth among the dwarves.   Mira is also known to host storytelling nights, where patrons gather around the fire pit, sharing tales of their latest adventures or recounting old legends of dwarven heroes. She rewards the best stories with free rounds of ale and hearty applause from the crowd.
