Personal history

Natalie and her older sister Melanie Hartwich were born to a lovely mundane couple, Christopher and Diane. To their surprise, a hidden magic gene had been passed down from Christopher's great-great-great-grandmother, who had once married and had a single mundane child with a mundane man. Both of their daughters were casters and, even more shockingly, they came to learn both had the same Necromancy Affinity.
After her sister Melanie killed the former Necromancy professor at Ravenwood University in an accident, Natalie became too afraid to even do magic. She shut down and tried to refuse to attend Ravenwood when it was her turn, but was convinced by her parents to at least try after they met the new Necromancy head, Professor Remington. Natalie finally agreed to enroll under her mother's maiden name Lesesne as long as the headmaster guaranteed she would never be outed as Melanie's sister.
Remington took Natalie on as a personal project, which would become an immediate hallmark of his teaching style with other troubled Necromancers. She stayed a month in Remington's cottage, just doing small spells that weren't Necromancy at all, working through her emotional and magickal blocks. It was during this stay that she met and became romantically involved with his best friend and fellow professor Theo Morgen. Between Remington's patience and the secret relationship with the foxblood, her confidence grew, despite the fact that involvement with Theo was terminated two years later when her parents discovered it and forced her to end it.
Natalie is now one of the top students in the school and the top Necromancy student. She has a clique of friends where she holds Top Bitch status, defining the gloomy stereotype usually applied to Necromancers. All of it is carefully crafted, in fear that someone may realize the dark secret about who her sister really is.
