Ebony Spindle

The ebony spindle is a 3 ft long spindle shaped black stone with red veins. Under inspection, an observer may discen various Drodarin, or dwarf glyphs etched into the sides of the spindle. There are runs for magic and death along with unknown variations.

The ebony spindle draws in and consumes active magical energies.  As it draws in energy, the effect is magnified and the effect grows stronger.  In the presence of weak magic, it will cancel any local effects and become dormant.  In the presence of strong magic, the effect will grow and grow until there is no more active magics to draw in.

History

Auril created the ebony spindle in 1100 MS to aid her followers, the ice giants, in their war against the Shianti Empire . The ice giants would lose, but their final efforts would result in The Fall of Ythryn  .

It was recovered from Ythryn by the The Antiquarian Association in MS 5097.
