Bosky Dells

In the heavily wooded hills southeast of Lake Bolo in the Donneshire Hills, lays a halfling settlement spread across a series of forested valleys known as the Bosky Dells.   The "Boskies" who live in this secluded area pride themselves on keeping the old ways of the Donneshire Hills. They prefer not to deal with bigger folk, they eschew the Pantheonic Gods and worship Yondalla, and they avoid businesses in shops and stores, preferring to barter for what they cannot grow or make themselves.   This simpler, more rustic approach to life makes Boskies the butt of many jokes with larger halfling society. They are often seen as hicks and bumpkins whose adherence to old systems has kept them from truly enjoying the pleasures and comforts of modern life. Due to this, many residents of the Bosky Dells have chips on the shoulder, and look to the citizens of Northfarthing and Rooktown as soft and out of touch with their roots. Boskies have no fear of the water, and many fish the plentiful streams of the dells. They also prefer the taste of whiskeys and liquors to that of ale, and many Boskies have set up stills in secluded spots in the woods to make their personal brands of 'Shire Lightning. Like the other halflings, Boskies are also found of music and dancing, although their instruments are often made from household goods and tools, giving their songs a distinctly "Bosky" feel.   Hobbit holes in the Bosky Dells tend to be harder to spot than hobbit holes elsewhere, blending into the hillside or within tree roots. The inside of these domiciles also reflects their rustic nature, with more earthen walls, crudely built (but sturdy) furniture, and larders packed with rougher fare than most halflings prefer.   Two important locations within the Bosky Dells in include The Bosky Mill, and Whiskeybottom Holler.
