The Companion's Travel west to the blockade and ferryman ports of Fort Esmir and Fort Weston showed the dark sides to ordinary life with the calming of the Everstorm. Their travels from Locath to the southern side of the Nerm Warren included ridding troglodytes from the remains of a wrecked ship, aiding a refugee family, and devastating many more by setting up a gambling ring on the boat trapping losing gamblers in the “room” with possible home to win it all back but no possible means of fully walking away.

The Companion's Travel west to the blockade and ferryman ports of Fort Esmir and Fort Weston showed the dark sides to ordinary life with the calming of the Everstorm.     he companions found a wreckage of a ship along the shore from hitting newly dangerous shallow rocks. The wreck now served as a home to terrified Troglodytes. A tense moment of investiagation exploded as Broxon sought to place himself between the gigging spears of the troglodytes and Xanstaer. Broxon's surge forward brought retaliation against him, the strike brought retaliation from Broxon, and a battle began. Clive stood by his friend and fired into the creatures. Buck remained at the ready in case his friends needed a medic but decided that at this point attacking was wrongful. Xanstaer walked away entirely knowing that at this point even acting in self defense would lead to unnecessary bloodshed.   The next night upon the trail, the companions joined a refugee family the Cogglecoups who were taking this opportunity to move back home from the Cobblestone Serpent to one of their families in Lacington. The party helped fixed their broken wagon and aided them financially with a donation to help them across the ferry.   Continuing on to the ferries, the companions found refugee camps built up all around Fort Esmir as people failed to secure spots on the ships to sail across or did not have the funding to do so the increased rates due to the panic and demand. A barge was even needed to get people from the heavily expanded shore out to the boat as the vessel couldn't make it into port. During their sailing across the Nerm Warren, Clive and Broxon took advantage of the crowded traveler's desperation for money and set up a small gambling area. In the end, they ruined many people's finances before abandoning the primary routes of land travel to continue south along the Basin's edge mountains into the wilderness.
