Geological Timeline of Marego

The geological timeline of Marego. Disasters and big changes will mark the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. Until we reach an age of history!

Orcidean Era

4 .5 bya to 4 bya before date

The lifeless phase of the planet, roughly from it's formation 4 billion years ago up to the point of the first life forms 4 billion years ago. A time of heavy collisions between Marego and diffrent other celestical bodies.

    The forming of Inyaga
    Celestial / Cosmic

A heavy impact hit Marego and led to the forming of it's only moon Inyaga  .

    Life, Achievement/ Win

Around 4 bya before date the first life forms appear at diffrent spots on Marego. What has caused it's appearance is a mystery. But surley those first microbes changed the path of the planet for good.

Corticean Era

4 bya to 2.5 bya before date

The first appearence of life, which produced layers of oxygeneted iron mostly - but not exclusively - marks the end of the Orcidean and the beginning of the Corticean Era .

  • around 2.6 bya before date
    First atmospheric oxygen
    Geological / environmental event

Around 2.6 bya before date the first evidence of free oxygen in the atmosphere is found. This means that photosynthesis happened in high quantities.

  • Around 2.5 bya before date
    Oxygen Crisis
    Disaster / Destruction

The high abundance of oxygen in both the sea and the atmosphere led to the extinction of many early organisms.

Oxidean Era

2.5 bya to 700 mya before date

The first time, free oxygen is found in the atmosphere of Marego all over. The first glaciation period falls in here. Because of the abundance of oxygen, this period is called Oxidean Era .

  • Around 2.4 bya before date
    The First Glaciation
    Disaster / Destruction

Due to the overproduction of oxygen and a period of low volcanic activity, Marego was covered in glaciers almost all around. This lead to a second major extinction event, leaving room for evolution to take off afterwards.
