The Great Core War

The people of the Old Stars laid siege to the Grey Core and were repelled by the first recorded appearance of the Kestals who utterly broke the fleets that attempted to violate the Great Architect's sanctum in the center of the galaxy.

The master of this galaxy, the Great Architect, has very few rules governing the tenants who live in it. Those that obey the rules are left to their own devices, those that break them have their ambitions curbed in a number of ways, be it their home planet put under blockade for a century or two, stasis on a capital city, or all their information storage fried to a crisp.
The hardest Shinomaulla has ever come down on any known civilization was during the Core War. Under normal circumstances, such a war would be a history chapter in and of itself, but it is reduced to a footnote under the Humbling.
The reason for the Core War isn't widely known, simply that the tenants of Markait became agitated and sought to wrest control of the galaxy from the Great Architect. Its believed that it was primarily shaped and pushed along by the various tribes of adamkin, though other races have a recorded presence in some of the major fighting too.
It began and ended in numerous systems AROUND Markait's Core, as the aggressive force never managed to penetrate the innermost sanctum of the galaxy. The attacking force attempted to seize control of gateways that existed at the time to allow travel of small ships into the core for direct audiences with Shinomaulla. When they made their initial approach, the Kestals interfered, they came with weapons and defenses that the alliance of tenants could not match. They were routed within days, the next few hundred years the Great Architect sent his machines of war around the whole galaxy having their industrial base smashed, and their records demolished, but leaving the people alive, with a simple message:
Look, I'm about to get very VERY busy soon, and I don't have time to head this off again in the future, so lets make a clean sweep of this and try this whole space fairing thing again in a few thousand years ok?
