Issue 8: Breakdancin' til the dawn
General Summary
The time of the big dance had arrived. Typhon , Valor, and Searcher all had their The Silvermane Chronicles themed dance costumes on. Searcher wore a mullet wig. Misty Moon showed up dressed appropriately, ready for her date with Valor. Danger X bucked the trend and arrived in rebel style in a flaming tuxedo, bringing roses for Typhon. She was not pleased that he was not in proper costume, but chose not to play it cool.
Typhon had her driver pull up in a stretched limo, arriving fashionably late to the dance. Danger X had a flask of Chet Walker Blue whiskey which he shared with everyone. Typhon had a flask of Mountain Dew for Valor. Quinn met them at the door with his date, An. Inside the dance was just warming up.
The crew set to dancing, with Valor leading Misty onto the dance floor for a traditional Aetherian dance. It did not go well. Typhon pulled An out onto the dance floor, who proved to be a surprisingly good dancer once she warmed up. Danger X poured his flask into the punch bowl. Searcher revealed the only dance in the future was Breakdancing, and busted out his slickest moves.
Madeline Rose showed up and Valor attempted to flirt, but she shot him down. He got very flustered and fled the dance. Searcher took his breakdancing one step too far and broke the dj's setup. The crew quickly caught up to Valor and talked him down with some kind words of support.
Meanwhile, back in the dance things were hopping. Everyone got into it. But things got weird and people started freaking out, only to pass out from the gas being released into the party.
The team woke up to find themselves separate. Loud voices over the intercom announced that they were held prisoner by the Golden Dawn. Typhon was sequestered in an individual cell with the other super rich kids, Quinn and An. Searcher and Valor were in a large warehouse with the moderately rich kids.
Typhon quickly kicked out one of the bars of the cell and slipped through, and out into the ventilation system. Quinn admired her sick skills and wanted to know the name of her trainer. She dispatched two HIVE agents, absconding with one of their uniforms. Finding a control room, she used codes she'd memorized from the files to empty the room, and then used the controls to find her friends.
Valor and Searcher were under the gun, literally! Two gun turrets bore down on the crowd of helpless kids. Valor attempted to dispatch them with his magic, but for some reason he failed to call it into play. Searcher kicked up some rocks and blew out the lights, leaving them in darkness. He then used his biology to make himself a target for the turrets as Valor tried to get the kids out of the room. Things went sideways though, and a dozen of armed guards flooded the room. With some effort, the team managed to take them out.
Meanwhile Typhon had found her special armor bag, but it was defended by Judgement, who had armor of his own. He demanded the two fight, so she suited up and they battled. Typhon's small size allowed her to dance around the foe in the tight quarters. In the end, Judgement escaped through a dimensional portal.
