History
The Guardians formed when HIVE attempted to steal a doomsday device from Virtagen Labs. However, as the team was new and hadn't worked together, the fight caused extreme collatoral damage.
This raised the ire of Augustine Burroughs who has used the platform that super teams like the Guardians are no more than child soldiers doing the work of their adult vigilante counterparts.
