Like the shathi, the apollonari can trace their roots back to the icy northern islands with its deep valleys filled with rain forests and rolling hills. Records that date back to the Third Age and earlier make it quite clear that the apollonari shared the islands with the shathi species.

Myths from that time indicate that they were also refugees, traveling with shathi who were trying to escape a near apocalyptic conflict deep in the far regions of the Worldspace. Some today theorize that the conflict was against the ancestors of the modern day Dark Horde.

The apollonari are equine-humanoid species that are approximately the same size as other humanoid species. The average height is around 6 foot, however they tend to naturally have more muscle.

This species is more common along the northern reaches of Illuria or Evermist in the Worldspace. However, they can be found on many of the former Core Wolds of the old Coalition as well.

Traits of the Bloodline

Apollonari have an appropriately sized horse head, complete with a one foot long, spiral unicorn horn at the top of their forehead. They do have hair and a fine covering of fur, cloven hooves and a horse-like tail. Their hair is more human-like in texture than a horse’s mane.

The hair color varies as much as it does in elves or humans. Concerning their fur, it carries much the same shades of color as their hair, only is common for an apolloari to have a striped or ‘paint’ color mixture to their body fur.

Outside of their obvious equine features, they do have human-like hands, eyes and walking speed the same as other humanoids of their size. Their eye color has a similar range as that of humans. However, green is the most common eye color for apollonari ancestry.

They have excellent vision even in twilight or dim light but they excel at hearing. They are one of the few species that can rival elven or purnesi hearing.

Apollonari, like other near-human and humanoid species, are generally omnivores. Their particular taste of vegetables and plant matter vs meat varies by culture and region of origin for a particular apollonari.

Ancestry Traits

When playing an apollonari, the character gains these following special traits.

Twilight Vision
When you enter an area of dim light, such as a moonlit area, you see as well as during the day, ignoring any penalties to vision in dim light.

Keen Senses
Apollonari’s hearing rivals that of elves and purnesi, able to pick out sounds from a chorus of noise with great accuracy. Take a +1 forward to any hearing based perception rolls.

Powerful Build
The natural added layer of muscle makes you more able to lift and carry heavy weight than most other species. When figuring how much you can carry, take a +1. If trying to lift, drag or pull a heavy weight, roll with Advantage.

Sensitive to Mana
This ancestry, due to the mysterious magical radiation in their travels across the Worldspace, then again of generations of exposure to the Mana-charged Northern Lights of the Ice Islands, has a sensitivity to mana.

When you are targeted by illusionary sorcery, Roll+Fortitude.
