Brauit (Ba-ra-oo-et)

Alkan-born Axions and Aasimar of Armarium, typically of Archon descent. Like all of the Cosmic Races, their appearance and abilities can vary wildly, but they most often gain a purple tinge to their fur, similar to the hound archons they are often born from. They usually have a common trait of being able to infuse their weapons with axiomatic power.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

As they are descended from Alka, most Brauit speak Alkan and Ammar Common, but prefer to speak Celestial, the language of their archon superiors.

Shared customary codes and values

Like their celestial brethren, most Brauit try to restrain from killing, prefering to capture evildoes in the hopes of imprisonment and rehabilitation. This kindness doesn't extend to Tieflings, who they revil as hoplessly corrupted. In their view, at best a Tiefling who resists their infernal nature deserves to be put out of their misery with a painless death, while any who partake in any evils are worth hunting to extermination.

Average technological level

Brauit's prefer holy magic to technological advancements, but are often well versed in the crafting of seige weapons and other weapons of warfare.

Common Dress code

As most Brauit's become holy warriors, town guards, or other martial professions, they generally wear heavier gear, such as chainmail or plate mail.

Foods & Cuisine

Brauits are known to dislike spicy food and to have incredibly bland tastes, prefering to eat simple meals, such as meat rations or porridge, except on festive occasions. Most Brauit swear off alchohol altogether, as they fear it may comprimise their judgement

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

It is common for a Brauit family to have a heriloom greatsword, engraved with the family name. Usually, this sword is passed down to the eldest male, but execeptions are sometimes made for younger members who make a name for themselves as an accomplished warrior and force for good.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

Typically, when a new Brauit is born, the father stands over it with the families sword, blessing the child and granting it a name and a promise of honor.

Coming of Age Rites

When a Brauit is of age, they typically join the a guard force or other military position in the hopes of proving their worth as warriors, so that they can eventually become one of the few warriors allowed to access the Fortress of Heaven. Nearly all town guards and militias in Diako are made up entirely of Brauits.

Funerary and Memorial customs

Brauit corpses are blessed and sent straight to the Fortress of Heaven, where holy process can expedite a worthy souls transition to an archon.

Common Taboos

As they are in service of Heaven, Brauit's are expect to act with honor and nobility at all times, and those who perform acts of evilness and selfishness are quickly hunted down by their more zealous breathren.

Common Myths and Legends

Nearly all Brauit worship Imperious, the Celestial Paragon of Justice. It is said that many of the Alka that used to exist in Armarium called upon Imperious's aid in the Rampage of Cabmov, in exchange for an everlasting oath to the service of Heaven and the forces of Good. Empowered by this oath, Imperious singlehandidly held Cabmov off for an entire month, until the rest of the Paragons could unite and form a plan to drive Cabmov out of Armarium and back to Urro.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Beauty is secondary to duty, and with most parings arranged by family, many Brauits care little for the physicall apperance of their partner. Birth defects are another matter, as many birth defects stem from infernal origins, and thus those born are suspected of being Tieflings.

Gender Ideals

Brauit society is primarily patriachal, with males usually becoming the warriors and head of the households, with females generally holding down the household, but this is not a steadfast rule and differs from family to family. The Brauit believe that all can serve the forces of justice, and thus a female warrior or head of house in not all too uncommon.

Courtship Ideals

Brauit's lack a true heat period like many other Alka, and view procreation as more of a duty to start a family and serve the country rather than strictly for pleasure. Most parings are arranged between families, although due to their vary communal nature, there is often multiple options for each suitor, and it is rare for one to be paired against their will.

Relationship Ideals

Brauits are very social with other Brauits, espically of those in their same group. Many Brauit guards consider their fellow guardsmen closer than their actual family. While always cordial, most Brauits are suspicious of outsiders, especially those from other realms, however they are incredibly loyal to those who have proven their honor.

Major organizations

Many Brauit are members of the Hevanly Inquisition
