Church of Moradin

Overview

First established by dwarves during the War of the Gods, the church worships Moradin as the lawful good god of creation and protection. Its symbols are the hammer and anvil.

Values

Known as a harsh but fair judge, Moradin's teachings have inspired dwarven inventions and generally advocate for the constant improvement of their race, encouraging a good natured, intelligent, and harmonious existence with other good races while battling their pride and isolationist tendencies.    As part of the Ascan Pantheon, Moradin occupies the role of a foreign creator god that helped assist in the creation of the Ascalon Empire, and is generally similarly an advocate for harmonious existence with other races.

Adoption into Ascan Pantheon

During the founding of Ascanopolis, the eventual seat of imperial power in Ascalon, humans encountered a large native dwarf population in the area - many living in the twisting caves and dungeons below the Ascan settlement. As a compromise with the dwarves for settling the island, early Ascan religious authorities agreed to adopt Moradin into their pantheon, and co-create a city of the world's desire with the dwarves. Moradin has remained in the Ascan pantheon since.
