Tragedy of Gancia
The Tragedy of Gancia was an event of short-lived Laughing Blight outbreak amongst the upper nobility of the Kingdom of Leon in the year 1041. It resulted in the deaths of the King of Leon and his younger brother, leading Manuel de Cozani-Guiterrez to assume the throne, and is often seen as contributing to a decline in the influence of House de Cozani.

The outbreak occurred at a seaside tournament organized in the honor of the newly married Hernan Serrano-de Rivierra. The event was seen as a desirable social event among the nobility of Leon and as a chance for various Viejo to show off their seaworthiness.Cause
The cause of the tragedy is unknown, as the first case of the disease in the outbreak could not be identified. Some in the royal House de Cozani blamed both House Serrano and House Extabeltza for orchestrating the outbreak, a positioned weakened by the fact all families involved suffered from the outbreak.
