Pyr, God of Fire (Pire)

The Burning God, Keeper of the Ever Flame

The Burning God, Keeper of the Everflame

Pyr is one of the original fifteen First Gods created by the Grand Monarchs, in his case Avaciel, The Monarch of Elements. Sharing dominion over the element of Fire with Pyrize, the Greater Spirit of Fire and his companion Ignatium, Beast of Fire, Pyr commands the element at his leisure and draws in many followers seeking a share of his power or who simply respect and revel the fire. Pyr is tasked with guarding The Ever Flame by Pyrize and does so with zeal. His chosen weapon, the Sword of the Ever Flame, draws it's strength from this magical force and heightens Pyr's own natural strength.
Followers of Pyr traditionally wear bronze jewelry depicting his divine symbol and ceremonial clothing is venetian red, often robes. It is also tradition for priests to wear facepaint matching the markings on Pyr's face, though all followers wear this paint during the Festival of Flames and other religious ceremonies, some choosing to wear it all year round as a show of faith.

Divine Domains

Pyr's primary domain is Fire but he also has some sway over other domains, such as Light, Nature, Elements, and Balance.

Holy Books & Codes

The sacred texts associated with Pyr include The History of the Gods and his specific book The Tome of Flames.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Pyr's divine symbol is a triangle with a semicircle stretching across the central half of the base emitting a flame within the triangle, with two prongs on the left, three on the right and one stretching to the triangles peak. This symbol is traditionally depicted inside a circle and crafted out of bronze.

Tenets of Faith

Teachings of Pyr are vague, most who worship him choose their own path. Some more zealous sects choose to follow him for the destructive nature of fire and aim to burn all that can be burnt, others believe all shall be burnt in the end but play no active part in it, while most revel in the power and beauty of fire and vow to respect it and handle it with great care. Followers of Pyr believe that all living things should be cremated after death and that the ashes should be spread amongst the earth to bring a safe element of fire into nature and rekindle life in the soil.

Holidays

The Festival of Flames is dedicated to Pyr and the other fire deities and takes place from the 19th to the 22nd of Flowertide in the Imperial calendar. The festival involves drinking Fire Whisky, the burning of cluttering personal belongings and keeping a bonfire lit for the entire four day period as a representation of the Ever Flame. It is a time of high spirits and new beginnings, burning the past and kindling the future.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

As with all God's, Pyr takes on the race of the mortal viewing him. He appears taller than average, with a lean, muscular build. Pyr's hair is usually slicked back and ginger, though when using magic or for dramatic flair it takes on the appearance of flame. He bears the markings of a First God and Elemental God on his face, being a triangle with two lines either side on his chin and a dot between the eyebrows with a tall triangle above it and a diagonal line either side. Characteristic to Pyr, he also bears markings across his eyes resembling flame like wings with two stems following halfway down the nose. The markings on his face are red, contrasting with his ashen grey skin. He is typically depicted wearing red clothing and armour with bronze and gold adornments and detailing.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Pyr's only desire is to acquire more followers and power and keep the respect amongst his peers that the title of First God should command.
