Old Engelian
Also called Classical Engelian, this ancient and complex language was once widespread and vehemently used throughout Människar by the
Engelian Empire †, recognized as the "formal" language of the great nation. It has its roots from the proto-Engelian tribes and clans the inhabited the northern and northwestern regions of Människar between 5000 and 3000 IL, recognized by it's complex system of declensions and verbal conjugation. Because of the idiom's difficulty, maesters theorize the language branched into two variants while still at its early stages - an easier, less inflected form spoken by the masses, and another more complex and sophisticated one used by the higher castes of society.
As time passed, the simpler form evolved into what is today the common language of Människar: Engelian (sometimes called Människarian by foreigners overseas), while the more cultured version developed into Classical Engelian, which is currently considerd a nearly-dead language, given the only speakers alive make up the higher echelons of the
Thortyan military. Nevertheless, maesters and historians also dedicate a lot of effort into mastering this language with the purpose of deciphering ancient Engelian scrolls and documents.
