Telethian

The Telethians were the semi-incorporeal inhabitants of the ancient pre-Sundering  city of Annan Teleth. They are known for their great skill in Artifice and different forms of planar travel, such as Dream Walking and Astral Projection. Records of Telethians on the Prime Material Plane stop appearing very quickly after the partial crash of Annan Teleth onto Yorithal. Though part of Annan Teleth has been found in the Plane of Air, the found protions lie in ruin, and large portions are still missing.

Origins

The earliest records attributable to Telethians come from various Bird and Fae Folk, and date to very soon after the Forging of the World  . These records speak of a prosperous and powerful society from high up in the Heights of Air. Even these earliest records emphasize the ability of these beings to manipulate their surroundings, utilizing what is generally considered to be a mix of precursors to modern Divine Magic and Artifice. Due to how early these records date to, and the Telethians' observed profficiency in magic even at this early date, scholars generally consider Telethians tp be a Founder Race - one directly created by the gods in the Forging, and who received direct guidance from the gods.

History

The Telethian civilization lasted on the Prime Material Plane throughout the bulk of the Age of Divinity, for approximately ten millenia. Despite its longevity and clear evidence of advanced systems of record keeping, written records from the Telethians themselves seem not to have survived very well to present day. Most direct remains of Telethians consist of artwork, ruins, and the occasional bits of mostly-non-functional technology. The bulk of written records come from civilizations who interacted with the Telethians, mostly Birdfolk and certain sub-races of Elf.   Telethians seem to have only traveled around the Prime Material Plane very occasionally. Even though visitors were always welcomed in Annan Teleth, its location in the Heights of Air was so difficult to reach, that visitors were rare as well.   From the firsts records around the first century AD, up to approximately the third century AD, only Birdfolk knew about and visited Annan Teleth, bringing advanced celestial navigation and basic Artifice to the Material Realm. Some time in the third century AD, Elven records began mentioning "etheral sky people" as the original creators of sought-after trade good brought by Bridfolk. Skywing Elves sent several expeditions to find Annan Teleth in the third through fifth centuries, but were mostly unsuccessful. Some Birdfolk histories record the presence of Skywings in Annan Teleth during this period, but no Elven records exist of these Skywings ever reporting back. Excavations of the Annan Teleth ruins off the coast of Yorithal reveal large Skywing settlements dating back to this period, indicationg that at least some of the unsuccessful expeditions decided to settle there.
