Dillan is a man being crushed into diamonds. David spends little time with his children and so Dillan resents every moment his father wastes on the bastard. Dillan cannot even turn to his mother for love and comfort as all he will find there is wine and more of her whores. The worst part is that the rest of the world just does not seem to notice. All Dillan ever hears is how his father is a great and cunning man, and how beautiful and wise his mother is. Cunning? Wise? They are two dysfunctional, lecherous, drunks who have the misfortune of being married to one another. Dillan cannot even entertain the idea of running away and leaving the burdens to his bother Regi. His brother is not half as slow as he has convinced everyone else he is, but Regi could and would let the house fall to ruin while he played farmer. With the death of Duncan, the whole future of the house rests on his shoulders. Dillan will be better than the cloth he was cut from or he will die trying.
