Fey Gates
Stone archways that allow passage to and from the Feywylds. Their maker and means of enchantment are unknown.
Purpose / Function
These gates are the sole entry and exit points to the Feywylds - a realm not bound by the constraints of substance and physics.
Architecture
Solid stone archways of varying sizes - always meeting in a point at the top, and in construction always seeming to have been more molded than stacked.
Defenses
The gates are intangible and undetectable unless they are revealed to you by someone who has passed through them before. You may only exit the Feywylds from gates through which you have passed at least once.
There are stories of creatures who once knew the location of a gate inexplicably forgetting this information. After experiencing this Forgetting, no known creature has seen or passed through a Fey Gate. At best, the creature moves on and makes peace with a lost location. At worst, they are driven to madness by searching for information they can never recover.
It is no use attempting to show one who has Forgotten the location of a Fey Gate. At best, they will see and feel nothing. At worst...well. The material Feywilds are not forgiving. With this understanding, many creatures never wish to know the location of any Fey Gate for fear that they will Forget.
History
Their origin? Nobody knows. They are ancient and strongly enchanted.
