Hyemsfrey

At the northern edge of Republic of Dezaria, is a fortified settlement of Dwarves, situated on a floating piece of land and tethered by massive chains. The dwarves are vary vary of whom they will allow entrance.   The rock is bound to the ground by chains made of adamantium. Only dwarves live here, and they see it as the last bastion of their kind, which the armies of Dezaria could not breach during the Frygtelig Forfølgelse (the Great Persecution). Hyemsfrey generally does not permit strangers here.   On the opposite side of the large lake is Dezaria's holy city of Ozerksy, and there is considerable tension between the dwarves and Ozerksy's clergy and Soulguard.
The city's population numbers perhaps 2,ooo dwarves, but it can be seen that it was designed for many more, who have left or died over the centuries.   It is ruled by King Dwight Hillview, a conservative dwarf who is past his prime.

Calfast The keep of the stronghold and throne to the Poor King. The defences are very formidable, but the dwarves who stand guard are noticeable without any clothes or armour!
Within the keep is the entrance to the Sky Ore Mine .
In front of the keeps is the Cog of Succession , being a series of statues depicting a long line of kings. One plinth is empty.
Across the main square is the Great Forge , the largest forge on Hyemsfrey, and possibly all of Merra.
Varal The district of commoners. Many of the homes are vacant, awaiting the return of dwarves from centuries ago.
In the south of the district is the Last Rest , the entrance to the city's tombs where the ashes of the dead are laid to rest.
On the west side is Lake Kaeldar , the floating island's reserve of fresh water
Sumar The district housing administration, warehouses, workshops and factories.
One of the main streets is Brewery Lane , where obviously all of the dwarven breweries and distilleries are.
Nearby is Foresight Lendings Co., owned by Lenny Coincrave.
In the cenre of the district is Master Cole Steadfast's Smithy , which has now for sometime been closed due to lack of resources.
There's also Sheila's Intricacies - Sheila has a good eye for crafting small, fine items, generally items such as rings, earrings and such.
Haust The trading district, housing vendors, alehouses and the like. It can be seen that this district used to be very busy, but those days are long gone. The most imposing structure in this district is the Sky Dock , a large tower with births branching from it. Apart from a few small vessels, most the births are empty. At the base of the tower larger vessels are in states of disrepair.
The Frothy Lip is a rowdy bar owned by the triplets, Jahn, Zahn and Jeorge Bingeberger, whilst the Anchor Inn is a seemingly closed down hostel, which has not been used for some time given lack of visitors the floating city.
Next door is the Beard & Bondage , a place for a dwarf to briefly escape the boredom in Hyemsfrey, or else they could go to Jinny's Eternal Styles to get their beard and hair groomed.
Then there's Eeyore's Elixirs , an apothecary shop owned by Eeyore Dour-son.
Rural Fields The Rural Field are just that, Hyemsfrey's agricultural plots of land. To the south-west is the Observatory , two reinforced towers which overlook the lands beneath Hyemsfrey.
