About Trg

Dezaria's fifth largest settlement and the largest in the eastern region, Trg is has lately become the main commercial and port hub for the eastern part of Dezaria. It is located by Torgov's Cove and is the home to around 4,ooo people. The surrounding Virgin Sea is bountiful, and Trg fisherman make use of it. Fish also get carted or shipped to Ust, Ozerksy and even Voystok, although are salted to preserve the product. Salt is another commodity the town is known for, thanks to a nearby salt mine.
The town obtains its fresh water via an expansive infrastructure of wells and underground aqueduct, and its agriculture is further supplemented by nearby lakes and the Slavia River.

Despite its location being to the less populated east of Dezaria, Trg is a bustling place with plenty of opportunities for trade, amusement and even danger From its roots as a simple fisherman's village, Trg has grown rapidly over the last few decades, and some speculate it's due to a plan by the the Much Esteem Guild of Merchants to slowly expand their influence across Dezaria, whilst some say it is partly due to the Siren's Call.
The Much Esteemed Guild of Merchants - (The Megom or sometimes referred to a "gommies"), have several representatives and members in Trg, and their primary place of meeting is at a local establishment, the Sea Lord.
The Siren's Call is quite well known across the Republic and beyond, with frequent sailors from the far off coasts making port to visit the place. Its proprietor Lady Ezma Darkwood is one of the only drow known in Dezaria and her performance using the lute and song is even jealously spoken of in the far away Kingdom of Arboria.
The town has a peculiar smell, as the town is littered with braziers burning Lavier, a usually pleasant smell that tries to dissipate the odour of fish from the docks and salted fish warehouses.
Not many know, but a vast sewage system runs underneath Trg, which exceeds the the actual size of the town boundaries. The walls and foundations are ancient, and those with a keen eye might notice etched runes, faded by time. Some guess that the the dwarven kingdoms once had a port city here and the underground system is the last evidence of the republic's violent betrayal of the dwarves, whilst others sumise that the dwarves retreated from the coast a long time ago for a reason that even the dwarves have forgotten about.
Further east of Trg, the ocean becomes increasingly treacherous due to the long standing impact of the Incursion. there is also little east of Trg. As such Trg is referred by many as the last port in Merra. Those who continue to ride east are never return. Others will travel from Trg and down to the Samsky Isles, home of the tortle clans.

Trg's Defences

Until 5249AC, the town lacked any defence walls, as it had only grown to its size in recent decades and with little in terms of perceived danger, especially considering it last saw any real danger thousands of years ago during the Incursion. Since then, some pirates have landed in times past, but due to its obscure location there have been no major consequences.
Yet Trg's Mer of the time, Davanya Krechnyev - affectionately referred to as "Mama" - aimed to establish a small garrison of Republic troops and ships, to deter any pirates as Trg becomes more well known across Merra. She had ordered a levy to inhabitants to fund the walls. Due to conflict with Master Novak of The Megom, limited funds only contributed to a poor defensive wall made of local timber.

Visitor Tax

Persons pay 1 silver upon entry and 1 silver each day after. A document is issued to a visitor noting the amount of Visitor Tax paid, time of entrance and where they will be staying. A second part is for hosts to complete confirming guests' accommodation. Wearing of armour, any ranged weapon and any melee weapon longer than a shortsword within the city confines is forbidden, and visitors are given one hour from time of arrival to stow away such equipment with their host. They are also given one hour upon their intention to leave the town.

Occupation

In Sune 5249AC, the Steel Caller and his undead legions invaded Dezaria, supported by a coalition of orc tribes. Bal'Aur the Nameless, under the vampiric influence of the Steel Caller was in charge of an Orc army which easily overcame Trg's meagre defences. The city sustained considerable damage, further worsened by the savage orcs which had little care.
Following Bal'Aur's return from being charmed, in Talos 5249 an infiltration force lead by the Goats, supported by Mikael Wagnerstrauff and other survivors from the temple of Azuth, managed to kill the orc's leader, Mansha of teh Grim Fangs, which caused further chaos in the city as the greenskins fought one another for leadership.
