Isla
The people of Isla (mostly humans, city elves, and their half-blooded offspring) live off the wealth of the sea. They have the best ships and it is known far and wide that Islan pearls are the brightest and biggest. The people of Isla are familiar with the merfolk and other strange creatures who live in the sea and trade with them often. Since their Lady of the Undersea guards the Sea of Sounds, they have a booming trade economy with Berg.
Structure
Isla is governed by an elected council of five, one representative from each island and a Chancellor.
The matriarchal Masako family maintains their royal lineage but serves only as a figurehead for the government.
History
- 128 PA: Isla is founded after a prophecy is discovered regarding the involvement of gods of which the Frons had banned worship.
- 306 PA: An army of koalinth invade the capital city, burning large portions of it to the ground. An unnamed band of heroes sails out to sea to end the war and the Lady of the Undersea ascends to godhood.
- 328 PA: With the prophecy for which the kingdom was established fulfilled, Rouyenne demands the dissolution of Isla as a separate kingdom. The council complies.
- 337-342 PA: The people of Isla rebel against the rule of the Frons and their religious restrictions and manage to retake the islands. There are infrequent small skirmishes between the Islans and Rouyennese.
- 342 PA: In an attempt to quell the rebellion, the Frons officially sanction the worship of the Islans’ favorite god, The Lady of the Undersea, and grant her a shrine in their temples.
- 344 PA: The Frons redact their claim on the islands and the rebellion ends.

Military
The Islan military is small, as they were not allowed to hold one for hundreds of years. It mostly consists of militia that were pulled together during the rebellion. However Isla is home to one of the most elite training academies in the world. All members of the royal family are trained from a young age in “elegant defense” at the monastery. They will accept any Islan with potential and many others travel from all over the world to come train there, though not all are accepted.
The Islan navy is quickly growing and already regarded as a power to be reckoned with as they have the fastest and fleetest ships on the water.
Technological Level
Arcane Magic
With no formal academy of magic, those highly gifted in arcana are less common. However, due to the larger population of high elves and history of racial mixing, many can perform basic magical tasks.Natural Magic
Due to the islands deep connection to the sea, connecting to the natural magic there is a part of basic education. Many choose to train further and learn to embrace that magic and use it for healing. Islan healers are widely regarded as some of the best in the known lands.Divine Magic
There are some clerics from the Pantheon of Eight. The largest clergy is certainly that of Sumtil whose domains are so intimately intertwined with natural magic, that some can’t tell which they are channeling. There is also a faction of divine warriors that follow Sumtil known as The Halos.Religion
Most Islans worship the Pantheon of Eight, though they hold Sumtil, Lady of the Undersea in the highest regard.
With their official freedom from Rouyenne a couple elven gods have begun to be openly worshipped once again.
Mythology & Lore
Isla was founded to fulfill the "Seas Freed" prophecy which came to fruition when half-elf twins braved The Sea of Sounds, foiled the resurrection of Panzuriel, and settled the furious sea. Sumtil took Panzuriel's divine seed and ascended to Godhood as the Lady of the Undersea.
"The haunted sea where no ships sail
Holds danger far beyond its veil.
A dark godling rising to take his place
Among the Furious, deities of hate.
Two will be born to his dig his grave,
Half-bloods cradled in Valkur's waves,
and touched by Selune's fullest light,
But only one can stand and fight."

Toutari
The capital city of Isla is located on the inner coast of the largest Islan island. It is a large city with buildings made of white washed stone, palm wood, and woven reeds. The cobbled streets are as clean as a beachside city can manage and the air smells of salt and the floral Lady's Mushrooms that grow along the sand.
