Rouyenne
Humans, Halflings, and High Elves make up most of Rouyenne’s population. Most cities hold a mix of all these races, though a few small Halfling towns can be found throughout the kingdom. High elves, also known as city elves, live alongside the humans without issue, though the intermixing of races is rarer, a lingering effect of the persecution of elven religion.
Structure
Rouyenne follows a hereditary patriarchal feudal system:
- King & Queen: The absolute ruler
- Earls & Countesses: Own/govern a large portion of land (County)
- Barons & Baronesses: Own/govern a small portion of land (Barony)
- Lords & Ladies: Non-landed Nobility; often second+ sons or unwed daughters of nobles or common folk who have earned a blessing from the Frons. Sometimes govern a city or town for its owner.
- Knights: Warriors sworn to a noble or noble line.
- Wealthy Merchants & Guild Leaders: Not nobility, but often run in the same circles as lesser nobles
- Craftsmen & Farmers: Skilled common folk
- Peasants: everybody else
History
Liothwyn Jadsin (242 BA – 0 PA)
- 242 BA: The Jadesins, a family of high elves long favored by the dragons, claim rule over the land in the dragons absence and Rouyenne is founded.
- 0 PA: Liothwyn Jadesin and her family are killed when a handful of dragons descend and destroy the capital of Temell. The Bergian Accords are held and the Fron family is declared the rulers of Rouyenne.
- 3 PA: Construction of Fronhold, the new capital city, is completed.
- 117 PA: With fear of the dragons declaration fading amongst the people, King Corbin declares that the gods themselves have granted his family divine support to rule over the kingdom. In order to honor their favor, he declares worship of any gods outside their pantheon of seven to be illegal. Persecution of elven religion is particularly harsh, with temples and sacred groves burned to the ground and the clergy forced to convert, be killed or flee. Many elves are ostracized due to their race and fear that association might bring the wrath of religious persecution. Some continue to quietly worship their gods, but do so at risk of execution.
- 128 PA: An ancient prophecy is found declaring the rising of an evil god unless someone born of mixed blood with the blessing of the gods, Sehanine and Valkur, both gods outside the Pantheon of Seven, rises to fight them. For fear of leaving the prophecy unfulfilled and allowing the rise of an evil god, the Frons incorporate Sehanine into their goddess Selune and allow the foundation of Isla, a kingdom where the worship of the sea god Valkur is allowed and where elves and humans can intermix without fear of persecution. However, Isla is never allowed to have a military force and pays hefty taxes to the Rouyenne government.
- 253 PA: A noble family led a rebellion against Werner II after he set aside his high-born wife to marry the daughter of a merchant. The noble’s attempted assassination was averted and the noble was jailed. However, his brother managed to free him and they attempted to flee the city but were thwarted by a halfling and his goat. The whole family was executed except for their young daughter, who the Fron family took on as a ward. This daughter eventually grew up and married the eldest prince.
- 11th: Rafered Fron & Milena (278 PA – 318 PA)
- 305 PA: A kraken rises from the sea and destroys Port Drage, the major port city and trade center in Rouyenne. With a kraken in the sea and their major port destroyed, the Rouyennese economy takes a major hit which Rafered spends much of the following years attempting to recover from. It takes three years to build a new port city.
- 306 PA: Praiwind threatens war with Rouyenne, but nothing comes of it.
- 328 PA: Searching for a way to boost the economy, old contracts with Isla, who’s economy and trade are now booming, are reviewed. The terms regarding the foundation of Isla are rediscovered and the nearly forgotten prophecy, now fulfilled, is found. With the prophecy over and Rouyenne in desperate need of Isla’s fleet and trade routes, Isla is annexed to Rouyenne. Islans are initially agreeable with the arrangement as Kasumi Masako is one of their princesses.
- 337 PA: Unrest grows in what used to be Isla as the Rouyenne government attempts to restrict their religion to the Pantheon of Seven. Werner declares his son the heir, rather than his elder daughter. This final event triggers a rebellion amongst the former Islans who have always had a matriarchal government.
- 337-342 PA: The Islans take back control of the islands of their kingdom and destroy the bridge connecting them to the mainland. In an attempt to quell the rebellion, the Frons officially sanction the worship of the Islans’ favorite god, The Lady of the Undersea, and grant her a shrine in their temples. The Islans do not press further into their previous kingdom, but refuse to yield their islands.
- 344 PA: Worried about the influx of dragons to the north, The Frons redact their claim to the islands and the rebellion officially ends. Isla is reestablished as a separate kingdom.
- 356 PA: Paranoid in his old age, having witnessed a near war with Praiwind, rebellion from Isla, and a doubling population of dragons to the north, Werner founds The Order of The Seven Stars. Knowing that no man can beat a dragon in physical combat, The Order trains the best sorcerers and wizards and strives to expand the boundaries of mortal magic.
- Erick inherited much of his father’s paranoia, which has only been reinforced by dragons beginning to push the boundaries of their territory or hunting ground into Rouyenne. Though the Dragon Kings assure him that these are unauthorized voyages and they have no intention of beginning another war when their species is just beginning to recover.
- 369 PA: Erick pushes The Order to advance faster and authorizes the experimentation on their members and students.
- 406 PA: Rouyenne and Berg go to war, culminating in a Second Descent of dragons and the utter destruction if the Fron bloodline.

The Sylva
Wood elves are reclusive and exclusive, living alongside the fey within the Deep Forest. They do not allow humans into their fold and humans that wander too deep within their woods often find themselves at the wrong end of an arrow. However, some have chosen to leave the forest and join human society.Military
Each noble in Praiwind has a host of knights the Frons can call to battle. Historically, the have not had much of standing army, simply because there was no need for one. But in the last few decades, recruitment for the army has increased and they now have an army of a few thousand soldiers scattered throughout the kingdom as to not attract attention from the dragons to the north.
The Praiwind navy is nothing remarkable and they haven’t quite recovered from the devastation of the Kraken or the Islan rebellion.
The Order of the Seven Stars is a deadly military order consisting exclusively of sorcerers and wizards.

Technological Level
Arcane Magic
Rouyenne is home to the Textrinium, a temple to Mystra, goddess of magic, and an academy of magic that welcomes sorcerers and wizards to train. It was historically expensive, but tuition costs have decreased since The Order of Seven Stars was founded and the need for more arcanists increased. The Order of Seven Stars: Originally exclusive to sorcerers, they quickly expanded to admit wizards as well. Members go through intensive and secretive training and come out as some of the powerful and brutal magic warriors in the known lands. Typically Wizards of The Order specialize in Evocation, Abjuration, Conjuration, or War Magic.Natural Magic
The Sylva are known to have a deep understanding of natural magic that they rarely share with outsiders.Divine Magic
There are clerics for all eight gods of the pantheon and paladins of Kelemvor, Tempus, Selune, and Sumtil.Religion
The Pantheon of Eight
Corbin Fron proposed that his family had not only been selected by the dragons to rule, but also by the gods themselves. He posited that in order to avoid a civil war such as that of the dragons they must find balance in their lives and government and so he sanctioned the worship of seven gods and seven gods only, three pairs of differing ideals so that the kingdom would fall into balance, and one goddess of magic which is an inherently balanced domain.A sea goddess was added to the pantheon sixty years ago, and King Werner appealed that as the sea could be calm or rage, bring life or death, it too was a balanced entity.
